just wondering what the best master out level and master limiter level settings are normally set to
That has more to do with your gain staging prefs and reinforcement specs but, generally speaking, the limiter should be set just below the level of clipping of your main speakers on the master out.
Turn the master out limiter off unless you’re just streaming and recording at home. Limiters are useful when running a band through an analog sound board, but have (pun) limited use here with digital gear. Having it on only protects probably 1% of pro tweeter implementations that have ever been made (most either have been set up with built-in protection or are sufficiently durable already), does surprisingly little to benefit woofers, and instead incentivizes reckless behavior from guest DJs that is more likely to fry woofers, even if you personally don’t abuse the limiter. There is also an FX limiter, by the way, which I turn off. Set the master and booth levels in the settings to -10. Unity for the master knob will now by maximum and should be set at that to give you proper levels’ monitoring on the meters, and booth knob will not be capable of going over its unity with this internal setting, as you don’t want the booth output going past what the meters can show you.
