Why two different right-click menu in Engine DJ Collection?

Why are there two different menus when you right-click a track in Engine DJ (the desktop software) in the collection view.

Some times there is a menu with only three items:

  • Create stems
  • Remove from stems collection
  • Show in finder

And and for (most?) other tracks its larger

  • Re-analyze tracks
  • Create stems
  • Re-import track information
  • Remove from collection
  • Remove stems from collection
  • Show in finder

What’s the difference? I can’t find any?

  • Both tracks are on my local drive
  • Both tracks are imported, drag-n-drop from Finder into EngineDJ
  • Both tracks an in playlists
  • Both tracks have the same format
  • (I am not using stems at all yet if that plays a role)

What’s the difference???

Eject the track from the player and you will see all the options again.

Yes. Loading the track sets a certain state in the application that sets the menu with the 3 items. I imagine it’s this way because of development speed over anything.

Btw, state management in a UI is one of the more intricate bits of work that needs to be done by engineers. I always liken it to wiring stereo components (think inputs and outputs), where events (something that happens to change state) triggers certain features/functionality.
