What was the last DJ related item you bought?

He shows that in EQ mode the two mixers are essentially the same, the V10 is missing the ISO mode which some people prefer, I get that. Other than not having per channel ISO option what is the issue here, that the EQs on the V10 are not full cut? Xone 92/96 are not full cut either.

Watch again what happens with the frequencies when EQ is used. Some are getting a bump that causes that muddy sound. Cut is not the issue.

He needs to cut the low/mid pot on the 4-Band EQ V-10 to match the 3-Band EQ 900NXS2

I think it’s an old problem though that was resolved a few firmware updates ago. I’ve not seen any new complaints on the subject, in all honesty.

As a Xone 96 / MODEL-1 user I’m used to 4-EQ anyway. I’m yet to have a proper play on a V-10 for longer than 20 mins so cannot comment on any personal experience with it. The breath play I had on one seemed fine to me.

96 and model 1 are great mixers. In sound, quality and options that they offer. I also want to buy the 96 soon.

It would probably be best to save a final judgment for when I was able to fully digest the V10. I have used the Rane for six years now, and they are completely different and very hard to compare. First impressions:

  • the V10 sounds fantastic (punchy is the first word that comes to my mind)
  • the compressor is really cool - that should be standard for any club mixer from now on!
  • the master ISO sounds good, even though the crossover frequencies are a little weird
  • send FX are nothing to write home about
  • I definitely prefer the 3-band full-kill EQ of the Rane
  • the sound of the channel filters is a bad joke (compared to the Rane!) - what a bummer! I’m glad I have not sold the rotary

I can’t really comment on the EQ. I have found no “muddy” sound, yet. But I’ll check out what is meant by that and will get back to you. Or you could upload a tune you’re familiar with and I’ll record some EQ moves with that.

Again, these are first impressions after using my old mixer for a very long time. I might need to adjust to a few things. Also, I’m a frequent victim of buyer’s remorse :joy:

I’ll have to watch that part again, he did spend most of his time talking about how he didn’t like having to use additional techniques to fully cut the low end which is how the mixer was designed.

I was ready to get a 96 instead but was swayed to the V10 for a few reasons:

  1. I wanted to stay digital, just my preference
  2. Decided that I wanted more FX options than just filters without having to use an external effector
  3. The compressor feature for older digital tracks and vinyl
  4. V10 owners (mostly) seem to love them, and many because it doesn’t feel like other Pioneer mixers
  5. Good luck finding a new 96 in stock right now!

Just a question. You cannot set the channel EQ to kill mode then?

The channel faders feel okay on the V10 btw (was at a gear store recently but haven’t tested audio). Model1 has the TKD, which are sweet.

Let me know if you have trouble finding a Xone 96 as I actually know someone looking to sell a “Mint Condition” one soon that was purchased pre-lockdown for a Club and other than being tested has never been used.

The 2 mid-bands are just -26dB cut, whilst the low is a full on kill. You need to work the low/mid pot to work the frequency out of the mix.

No problems to find it in Europe. Many of my frieds that runs shops in the Netherlads, Poland, Germany, Slovakia and Italy have them in stock. Just need to gather some $$$.

Good to hear, they are sold out almost everywhere in the US right now.

Yeah, it was this video that made me aware of the muddy EQs.

I needed more channels and more send/returns. As Audio quality also matters to me, so Xone 96 ticks the most boxes. Now just need to get SC6000M’s finally (my SC5000M’s needed to be sacrificed for this)…

I was a little reluctant to look in here for fear of gas

I have recently purchased the Numark Mixstream Pro and absolutely love it! As an owner of the Prime Go it almost seems like the two items that do the same thing (at least for what I need them for) but the Numark is more fun and better laid out, (in my opinion of course)

I have tried a few: Hercules 200 > Hercules 300 > Pioneer DDJ400 > Denon Prime Go > Numark Mixstream Pro.

For me standalone is the way forward without a doubt, and Numark has raised the expectations of what you get for £499/€599/$599 and has brought the standalone concept to a much wider audience. Accepting that the Prime Go is a bit of a specialist item (tiny jogs), the cheapest standalones previously were around £1299.

When you consider the Denon / Rane / Numark family, the future potential is really exciting. Can you imagine a really stripped back, smaller entry level standalone running Engine DJ for around £350-399 (maybe less?)

A question, does a hardware synth also counts in here as a part of a dj gear or not?

Sure it does.

For me it’s some lights and soon I’ll be adding the soundswitch dongle to it. Another upcoming investment is the t.mix usb202 mixer from the German shop Thoman. The prime4 is an excellent piece of machinery but I need something as a backup. With the dual usb/Bluetooth players I have a way to start an emergency mix if I ever need to reboot the prime4. An additional bonus is my powered speakers don’t have an inbuilt EQ. And the P4 is missing an master out EQ. By adding this little device I hope de resolve this problem.

As my jog wheel is not working properly (and I am sad for this) I PURCHASED 2 new studio monitors for my playroom, EV EKX15P + EKX18SP. FULL THROTLE!!! . Next days I will take some photos for you, by the way the combination of monitor + sub is amazing.

I’ve got the EV EKX12 and the EKX15 sub as well.

They are loud.
