That’s it. Flightcase for the Prime 4. It will be used on flights, not often, but needs to survive underpaid staff throwing it around. Would prefer all black, but metal stands out a bit more (easier to see which helps both in airports and in dark clubs).
Odyssey (or how ever those are called) which is available in the NA region - they do not exist here in Europe, tried to find some - nope, nothing.
Got the usual - UDG, Magma, Flyht Pro, Thon. And a couple of shops that build them to spec, like Thomann (but that one has a crappy handle, colleague said - no good) and Musikhaus Korn does build them, but I would rather buy a purpose-built.
Just the Prime 4, not a workstation case (I have no need for a slider for the laptop).
Share your experiences please, how robust the cases are and if there are any issues like a bad handle or locks etc. Budget is irrelevant, leaning towards the Magma with 11kg - that is still acceptable since some airlines here only allow 20kg bags, not 25kg (this is where the heavy UDG case shoots over) - no need to pay extra weight
I recently moved over to a DJM/SC setup, but during my time using a PRIME4 I used a XS-PRIME4WBL from ProX! You can get them in 1U or 2U if you want racks, and the back end is very spacious. I was able to store all the cables for the mixer and some of my speaker wires inside the case under the mixer (there’s a big space to put stuff underneath) which was a nice added bonus. Overall a very nice case and I ended up purchasing 3 XS-CDBL’s from them for my DJM750/SC6000’s
For my MCX 8000 i have the Odyssey 2U Case and also for the Prime 4, ist aviable in Europe over bax-shop i think from netherlands.
Im from Germany.
And the price ist nearly the Same without the Rack space, wich i usw for conector panel, 3 Wireless mics with a small mic mixer and Wireless DMX.
So i have a Clean and quick Setup.
Nothing like that is available in the stores here. Currently I am in Portugal, so the easiest stuff to get is Magma or UDG (UDG is handled in Spain so this is the easiest).
Will probably be the Magma case. I do not travel frequently so the case should be plenty, but if the padding is bad etc. - well, will see once that thing arrives. I had no issues with Magma cases in the past, but all of them were smaller and for much lighter devices than the Prime 4.
