Waveform not displayed

I consistently don’t see waveforms anymore in Engine OS (version 2.1.0 on Windows 10)

I created a fresh collection - no matter what i try i can’t see waveform in the display while the analysis happened and the waveform miniature is shown as can be seen. Obviously the music file is perfectly fine also, i.e. the audio plays well.

Can someone please assist me - thanks.

Run RE-Analyze - should be fine. Looks like an error during analysis.

Select all tracks > Right Click > RE-Analyze

I tried that multiple times - it doesn’t resolve it.

Then Try to delete the tracks from the collection, and import again.

i did that. I started from an empty collection a couple of times. the problem persists.

Interesting. I had that issue with only couple of tracks, but the things I suggested solved the problems.

I read on the forum somewhere, that issues with graphic driver could also result in main waveform not showing up correctly… As I see small waveforms on the list are there, so it could be something to do with graphics maybe…? What about the graphic driver, is it up to date? Check if it helps.

I am having no issues with graphics.

Loading the same tracks in VirtualDJ e.g. is displaying the waveforms just fine.

I uninstalled Engine OS and reinstalled also. Same issue.

@mufasa You can have an idea how we could help our friend here?

Not sure but I can try

@2000monkeys how did you create a new collection?

Did you delete the database on the C drive? Or did you just removed all files from Engine?

There is a folder created by Engine ….usually will be found in the default Music folder

Rename it to something else eg Engine library 2022, restart engine, it should start with an empty library.

I delete the database already at the start of each test @mufasa

Mind, i 'm using flac music files.

I can see now it seems related to the album. Some albums load the waveform (for all its tracks), others do not.

That indeed is a strange one. I don’t think I’ve encountered this yet.

Maybe you can upload some files for the devs to test with

@Anthony_DDJ one for you

Can it be there is an issue with 96 kHz / 24 bit sample size flac audio ?

Can i attach a flac file here ?

OK read you too late. I will do that.

Hi, 2 tracks that fail to show waveforms, fetch them please from:

Note they are both 96 kHz / 24 bit flac. I have a strong suspicion now that this is the issue i.e. it looks like this is not environmental (but a severe software issue instead).

I can test this on my side today as well.

EDIT: Tested - both tracks don’t show any wave form. No preview, no main wave form…

So i assume this will result in a Bug ticket filed to the engineering team ?

I tested the files also and indeed, there is a problem.

I passed the files in Audacity and I put them in Flac 16 bits and there it works! There must be a problem handling 24-bit support in Engine Dj. This may be a lead to follow!

Thanks. I appreciate the efforts and hope this to result in a firmware fix eventually. Many thanks.

Hello. Can i ask what the outcome of this is? Is this being worked within engineering?

Thanks,

Kris

I have the same issue except with all files. FLAC and MP3. Its a brand new DB and fresh install of Engine as well.
