Virtual DJ stem integration

Can VDJ Stems 2.0 be integrated with Engine DJ for use on an SC Live 4 in standalone mode?

Hi, simple answer is no, you will need to analyse your own stems within Engine DJ to use them on Engine powered gear.

It has been asked for on the VDJ forum for a Denon export mode with stems. More chance of it happening that way.

No, I think you’re mistaken. Someone was asking for an export of the database directly in Engine format, seemingly unaware that Prime units read Rekordbox data (which VDJ can export).

TTBOMK all the stems formats in the various DJ software are incompatible with each other anyway, but Denon DJ have gone the extra mile and encrypted the files.

It would be nice if the file types were compatible across the board, but as with the databases, they all want to do their own thing.

This should be the number one feature request across all brands and all software, global library format.

Native Instruments created a free-to-use Stems format back in 2014, unfortunately almost no one adopted it

Thats because it required buy in from record labels to release the stems files, many of whom were not interested and continue to be not interested.

Yes the original NI stems were based on artists/labels releasing in that format - but they did also make software to create your own.

This was all long before we had the ability to create reasonable stems from any track though, so as later software introduced “real time” stem tech, they could have chosen to use the NI file format…but of course they just went with their own.

yeah, we needed consistency and all we end up with is an even bigger mess.

Thank you very much
