[v5.0.1] Rotary Knob Encoder freeze & Track loading cache bug

Hardware: Denon DJ Prime 4+

Firmware/OS Version: v5.0.1 (Official Release)

Media Sources: Internal/External SSD + Apple Music Streaming

Peripherals: SoundSwitch (Active Light Control via Engine Lighting)

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a severe workflow-breaking bug in the official v5.0.1 release on my Prime 4+. After a period of mixing under heavy load, the library UI freezes, the rotary select know doesn’t work anymore In a specific view and track loading gets corrupted.

I am NOT experiencing the known audio stutter issue, the audio output remains clean, but the OS control interface fails.

Steps to Reproduce / Context:

1. Running a 4-deck mix session.

2. Mixing tracks from a local hard drive (SSD) simultaneously with streaming tracks from Apple Music.

3. SoundSwitch (Engine Lighting) is actively running and controlling lights.

4. After some time, the main browse encoder wheel / rotary knob stops responding in the vertical waveform left/right library inbetween view (split view with waveforms on the sides). Tracks can then only be scrolled/selected via touchscreen. But the knob works in the other views!

5. Once this state occurs, trying to load a newly selected track into any deck fails. Instead of loading the new track, Engine OS repeatedly loads a specific older track that was loaded earlier in the session.

The main encoder should remain functional, and the decks should load the newly selected tracks instead of falling back to cached/previous track data.

Only a full reboot of the Prime 4+ hardware resolves the issue. This looks like a UI thread crash or memory leak related to the combination of streaming, local playback, and Engine Lighting.

Hello, prime 4 here. I run firmware 4.0 (most stable for me) and the last 1 month my rotary knob is sometimes dead after 1st boot of console. If i reboot again then its ok. I live with this as after second boot is working perfectly. And not happens all the time after 1st boot, only some times.

My knob indeed works, it’s a software bug.

Hey,

sorry hear. I’m waiting for an update for the other error you have mentioned.

But for your problem the current “workaround” will be more or like the same.

If the previous version was workin’ well, go back.

Since i’m not depeding on it and don’t wanna miss my album art, i keep “impatiently” waiting

I hope these bugs where fixed in 5.0.2 which is now available.

** Improvements and Fixes**

  • Fixed an issue where continuously scrolling search results while using a streaming service could occasionally lead to a system crash.

  • Fixed an issue where the Performance Library track list would not update after viewing a History list in the main library, which could result in incorrect track loading.
