Updating a track COMMENT tag in EngineDJ does not update the track ID tag

For searchability of my library I have inserted key words into the COMMENT field of the track in EngineDJ. However, I have found that any tags I add through EngineDJ do not update the ID tag of the track and are therefore only held in the EngineDJ library and are not an inherent attribute of the track file itself. This gives the possibility of losing all my keywords in the event of a corrupt database.

So, if I want to update the ID tag itself I have to go to the track in Windows Explorer and edit the ID tag through there.

Is this correct or can the ID tag be editted through EngineDJ?

It’s not implemented in Engine.

In all fairness the best practice is to tag in an external tagging software then import the information to Engine. Maybe that’s not your workflow but there isn’t a way round this at present.

Maybe Lexicon is an idea for you. It is the Swiss Army Knife of tag management, so to speak, and also synchronizes all DJ software with each other. Lexicon is now extremely sophisticated and has great support.

Thanks Houseman. Lexicon is far more complicated than I need, and with a monthly subscription. I 've gone with TagScanner.
