Traktor latency in Mac vs PC

I recently switched from pc older laptop with i7 to a mac mini with a m1.

I am surprised to see that the lowest latency i can achieve on mac is 64 while I was able to do 32 on my windows old laptop. There isn’t even an option for it.

PC has the special denon program that i used to use to select my latency, any way to achieve 32 on mac in traktor, maybe with a 3rd party program?

I think it will handle it if given the option as the load bar is only at 25-40% right now at 64…

That info would be easier to find on traktor forum. What sound card do you use? Latency is dependent on the processing. I had with Denon x1600/1700 mixers on my 2015 macbook 3.2ms latency.

Using X1850 internal soundcard. Thanks will try there too

With X1800 I was down to 6.5ms on the 2015 i7.

Is it really relevant to try to get down to such low latency?

When you go below the 256 threshold, the latency is already so low that it will be suitable for most DJs to mix. And this is even truer when you go below the 128 threshold, which is already extremely low and allows you to have an imperceptible response time, even for scratching in timecode.

Apart from wanting to use more CPU resources than necessary and risking audio artefacts or crackling, I don’t see what going to 64 and even more 32 is going to do for you.

Normal CD players like good old cdj1000 mk3 had internal processing latency about 10-12ms. For dvs scratching 20-30ms is noticeable and can be annoying. My 3.2ms was running at 10-18% cpu usage when all 4 decks were playing in Traktor. So it was not even close to stressing out my computer or running on the edge of its possibilities. My macbook was relaxing when I was djing with it.

Scratching and turntablism. Definitely noticeable. If I wasn’t using DVS I wouldn’t care.
