Yep, definitely a strange update… not really sure why they have done this, i assume there must be some valid reason.

I find it funny how other DJ software gets updated all the time, but when Serato gets an update the fireworks go off and it’s “Whoopee, look what Serato just did”. :rofl:

OK so they added five controllers. Algoriddim added seven a few months ago.

4 old and entry level controllers too, if they had done a full sweep of NI hardware it would be actually impressive.

hopefully it leads to a culture of their software being opened up to lots of hardware, VDJ style… and in turn all the other vendors realising that we should be able to flip our libraries and software across the hardware options.

Like im a Serato and Engine user, to use the DDJ-1000 i have to then keep Rekordbox up to date, even though i would never use it outside of the odd gig on a friends 1000. Being able to plug Serato in and use would be heaven.

Maybe all this is to get the acquisition done… “see, we’re open and support all hardware”.

Most of these are fairly modest “starter” controllers, so I think it’s just Serato trying to hook new users before they’ve fully committed to one platform.

I’m all in favour of more choice though. That’s got to be a good thing.

Serato drop isotope’s FX from Serato DJ.

Serato add NI hardware support in Serato DJ which is owned by isotope.

“Super sorry we dropped your FX. To make it up we’ll support your hardware”.

FYI

The OG Native Instrument Kontrol X1 was shipped with an overlay for Serato Scratch Live and TSI. I used to own one back in the day.

My flatmate had one too.

I opted for the Denon HC-1000S (or whatever it was called. It was built like a tank but the tact switches failed after a year.

It would be great if Traktor started to support other controllers again. Like the Rane one for instance.
