I don’t have many details, but I was playing using three decks yesterday and after Deck 2 track ended, I loaded up a new track and started a loop. I switched from Deck 2 to Deck 4, pulled down Deck 4 fader just a tad, and introduced Deck 2 pulling the fader up.
When stopping Deck 4 using the Play/Pause button, Deck 1 (which was about halfway through the track) started over completely from the start of the track.
This is not the first time I’ve run into this issue. Though I am fuzzy on the exact details, I am 100% certain that I only pressed buttons and interacted with the right side of the controller (Deck 2 / Deck 4), which should have had zero impact on Deck 1. Also, I’m not aware of any normal way of resetting a track like this to even see this behaviour, save having a CUE at the beginning of the track, which I did not have and I did not press a CUE button or any other button on the left side of the controller.
Hey, thanks for your suggestion. I was pretty sure I didn’t have either of these enabled, but wanted to confirm before saying anything.
The two physical switches on the front which control Fader Start are set to OFF.
Crossfader is disabled for all Decks (Thru)
There is no “Crossfader Start” option within Engine DJ Profile, nor Engine DJ OS 4.3.0
I checked like four times but if you’re confident it’s there and can tell me where to look, I’ll double check.
This has happened while both of my hands are off of the decks. I have a video where someone came up next to me and recorded himself dancing nearby, with both me and him in frame, this happens, he says “Oh wow how embarrassing” and then I tell him snarky like “Yeah that’s Denon for you” or “Yeah, I’m working on getting actual professional equipment”.
Happened at almost exactly 2 hours and then 4 hours this previous time.
And yeah, it was embarrassing, but having that documented is pretty priceless.
This happened again last night playing using three decks. Seemed to be triggered by loading in the third track onto Deck 3, Deck 1 restarted playback. EDJ 4.3.0
Sorry those suggestions didn’t turn out to be the cause.
In light of the extra info you recently gave on the other thread, about your Deck 1/3 LED … and now re-reading this thread… also about something that’s Deck 1/3 related, I’m wondering if there’s a connection between the two behaviours.
The Primes are quite modular inside eg: a small circuit board handling this, a small circuit board handling that etc - it makes it cheaper to replace a mini PCB than the old 1980s way of doing things with one massive circuit board housing absolutely everything.
Could it be that rather than your Deck 1/3 LED loosing brightness as an LED, could it be that your entire Deck 1/3 PCB is not getting consistent power, which in turn -could- potentially be causing your Deck 1/3 restart issues and also could be showing itself as the Deck 1/3 LED providing a dimmer than expected output?
This could be something as simple as a board-to-board internal connector not seated home fully. Ok, or it could be that the deck 1/3 board is failing or in turn has a loose connector coming into it.
Just a thought, as you’ve mentioned two things, both Deck 1/3 related.
