Tidal price change for DJs from April

Looks like Tidal is aligning their prices with the competitors. Beatsource starts at $12.99/mo but it you want access to everything (which they offer a lot) plus CLEAN EDITS (which I need), the price goes up to $34.99/mo. I’m seriously ticked off about the price increase, but I’ll keep it for now. I just won’t become dependent on services.

Like you, I also have a subscription to Tidal, it offered a large quantity of tracks, including recent ones, in good quality at an excellent price (until now). Now with the new price increase I have decided not to renew the subscription anymore because it is excessive. For the same future Tidals price it would be better to subscribe to Beatport, even if the genre of music is not as varied as on Tidal.

@Reticuli , I agree with you: I’m also thinking about switching to Soundcloud, it leaves the stems enabled, it has almost all the same tracks that are present on Tidal, it also has a huge amount of remixes and particular tracks, at the same price that Tidal had until now. Unfortunately, however, our consoles with Engine OS have a big problem searching for tracks on Soundcloud, haven’t you noticed? If you search for a song by writing the artist name and song title, you get few results (in some cases no results), while if you do the same search with VDJ or with Soundcloud on the web, you get the right results.

You too can try searching EOS to Soundcloud and then tell me what you think.

If/when blutooth arrives on the denon gear surely you can just blutooth the tracks so you shouldn’t need the dj add on for this? Of course you wont get stems but if all you need tidal for is a back up for requests this maybe a work around unless that has already been ruled out

I thought bluetooth audio works like regular audio input (i.e. similar to the analog Aux port), not bluetooth file transfer so you can add it to your library & mix it?

Correct, I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to pitch, loop etc on the Bluetooth audio, so not entirely the same as streaming via Tidal etc

Maybe not on the initial release bur possibly down the road? pure speculation on my part I would like to think Denon would add more to it than just the basic connect and play in terms of blutooth but if that was all it is I wouldn’t be unhappy about it.

I haven’t used Soundcloud integration on Prime in a long while. I had a free trial that ran out on it, then I moved to paid Tidal.

Could be, not sure how “flexible” a Bluetooth signal can be, but sure, if there’s some sort of internal buffer involved it might be do-able

What’s all this crazy talk about bluetooth for our Prime systems.

Good day everyone, so I done my first test of Tidal on Wednesday in Mixcloud, Twitch, Kick and Tango Artists, The first part of my set was bought tracks? The second part was Tidal, worked perfectly, smooth transition, did notice I did not have all the options on some tracks, so had only the radio edit, first annoying Tidal fact for me, could only select between BPM and Tempo, my own choice of the craft is to have four bangers and a drop BPM track before four bangers again, this was a little tricky to sort out going up and down the selected BPM. I don’t understand why you can’t separate! This I will be giving feedback to Tidal, I have a set next week Thursday Therapy where I’m going to try and do a full set of Tidal only tracks, hopefully Tidal will let me know if I can reorder the tracks in the function I require. If anyone thinks I’ve done something wrong with the how to play please let me know. Thanks  Will

Change is good  this news finally motivated me to do the thing I have thought about for a while and pull the plug on Tidal. I used to have it as a relatively cheap option to stream mainstream BS that I would never ever buy, mostly during private ad-hoc parties but it is now just too expensive for that (or I should party harder  ). I would not even consider playing an actual DJ set to paying public with anything else than local tracks that I have bought. New price of Tidal is definitely not worth keeping this “maybe I want to play tracks that I never want to hear again every other month or so” option any more.

So today I will do another set, this time only using Tidal, I would really like Denon, In House Music to update so I can set the BPM in order for use with Tidal DJ, I could be wrong if this is something Tidal should do? Anyway, the tracks on Tidal seem to have got better with all the edits available and not just radio versions.
