Which Engine OS update is the last and stable recommended for Prime 4 and what is the right Desktop version (I use Mac) compatible with it?
Some of the new updates are designed for Prime 4+ and are not useful for Prime 4.
I want to update both Prime and Desktop for the last time, but I’m afraid I damage something. Everything is working well. Currently using OS 3.2 on the Prime although aware of the 4.3.4 version.
both the Desktop Software and the OS are currently at version 4.3.4. I do not own a Prime 4, but the last updates didn’t cause problems for me. In any case, have a backup of your library.
You can check the What’s new section (release notes) on the download page to see if the latest updates offer something useful. The latest version offers “General performance and stability improvements”, that’s not so bad in my book.
@Parysatis that’s really encouraging to hear. @The_Double_V if you search the forum, some report issues with 4.3.4. Keep a copy of the installers or install for your current version as the desktop installers are no longer directly available on the Denon site. The OS versions are there.
Ideally, 4.3.4 will work perfectly, as previous desktop Engine versions between 2.4 and 4.3.4 have a security flaw. Read the release notes.
Note that the database for 4.1 and higher is not backwards compatible with lower versions, so if you want to downgrade later you probably have to go back to a backup or rebuild your entire library.
Also note that 4.3 has the waveform drifting issue, I would wait to upgrade until that is fixed.
