The great MP3 Dj Library Tidy Up 2024

I’ve done a bit more digging and I’m reading the Sc6000 may actually be the problem. Anyone have any thoughts? I can’t use digital outs, I can only use line on my mixer. Have the problems with the sc6000s audio been fixed?

Try the same track in both MP3 and lossless format, then compare them and see what difference it makes. I can notice a difference on my setup but its never enough for me to care about, i just make sure i get tracks i love in lossless.

Oh and try some higher grade RCA cables if you’re not using good ones already, or at least swap out the ones you are using to eliminate them.

Cheers Stu, am using the ones that came with Sc6000. Perhaps should have gone with flac. Thing is on my pc the new mp3s sound good but on the Sc they definitely lacked punch, and on my recording they definitely don’t sound great. But the vinyl sounds lush.

I’m reading about the sc6000 cutting lows/ highs, If you don’t use digital out. I’m wondering if this is what the problem has been all along. Any more info on this?

Is it something they updated and fixed? Would s u k if this is the case because that would mean even Flac / wav would sound poor?

I don’t own one unfortunately, but my Prime 2 certainly doesn’t feel like it’s causing any sound issues.

I will say that the cables you get in the box with DJ gear are worse than useless, hell even the 1210 cables are awful and they are soldered in.

Maybe try some nice shielded RCA cables from a decent supplier, you don’t have to spend a fortune on them, just make sure they’re a step up from the basic ones supplied with the decks. I get ll mine from Amazon.

I guess you’re using a Xone 96 are you if you only have RCA options?

Cheers again Stu, I’m on the djm 450 ( only pioneer in stock at the time, it’s actually surprisingly good ).

I had a look through some older posts from 2021 with regards to audio issues on the sc’6000 someone posting about issues using his it with his Xone.

Somebody mentioned key lock causing artefacts, I just tested it and 100 percentage this is what I’ve been experiencing.

At zero percent tracks sound clear, as you shift down or up with key lock on, it introduces the most subtle noise that sounds like a bit crusher. I turned Key lock off and it sounds great again, no noise…

Well happy I’ve solved this I’ll be using my older 320 mp3s that pass the spec test now. Crazy that something like that can go relatively unnoticed, It’s definitely doing it, it’s not just placebo or anything like that. Will invest in some more new cables two, I usually always use Neo cables, you know the green and whites.

And yeah I remember having to re solder my 1210s cables ha!

Here’s the mix for anyone interested : )

Ahhhh yeah, key lock will naff up the sound definitely, best to mix and sort of dance music without it if you can.

It’s pretty rubbish on most devices, I’ve found the pitch n time add on in Serato the best. I still use it loads at gigs though as I play tracks all over the place up to +7% pitch etc.

I found the RCA cables that came with the SC6000M quite nice, they do the job and you can use them for both types of connection, analogue and digital.

That doesn’t match pretty much every experience I’ve ever had with included RCA’s, all have been rubbish.

It looks like it was master tempo causing the issue in this case however.

I found a whole post on here about key lock issues from march last year. Yeah I won’t be using it anymore, guess I’ll be not touching the the jogs and ridding the pitch like with vinyl from now on! On the mix I posted you can really hear the artefacts. The vinyl ones are much more punchy you just can’t beat vinyl but I luv mixing on the Denons too.

Yeah they definitely do the job, prob should buy neos though ha ha. I wish my mixer had digital ins. Seems Pioneer save those exclusively for the top of line flag ship mixers A9 and V10. It’s not something I considered when purchasing. The djm 450 is great mixer though, I should have taken your advice and brought FLAC. I will do that next time

It probably impacts that melodic type of sound far more than others. Most of my music is in minor chords and quite deep sounding so likely less of and issue. Especially all the slower breaks and chill out type of music I mix with.
