The best BPM?

Inspired by a throwaway comment I made in another thread.

What is the best BPM and why?

Remember this is just for fun and there is no wrong answer (unless it’s funky house :P)

This is a tricky one for me as I grew up on Trance so anything between 135ish and around 142 (much quicker and it got a little heavy for my tastes).

But if I had to put a number it would be 140 as that is where Follow Me by The Morrighan, Lange sits.

I’m obsessed with music around 100bpm, you can blend house, soul, funk, hop hop, disco, breaks, lounge music all together for full on eclectic heaven.

That’s because 100bpm is the perfect tempo for dancing. Almost every top song has been at or around 100bpm.

I feel this aptly named track is a perfect example of a ‘100bpm groover’

I’m gonna say it… 128.

It’s the magic number

For me it depends on the genre. Progresive house or melodic techno i kinda always go to 124 bpm. For techno it always around 132 bpm. Everything over 136 bpm is to much for me.

I was too tired last night to scroll the list but had a look this morning and there are some epic tracks in there. Witchy Woman alone sells it:)

I prefer stuff north of 140. I often start a set around 126-130 and slowly ramp the tempos up to 140+ wherever possible.

For me at age 52, it’s around 128bpm! I love playing Techno,Trance, DnB etc but my heart rate; when it comes to dancing, is happiest at 126-128

Same here, and that’s a 51 year old speaking :sunglasses:

70 yo here, who offers more?

When I’m performing a gig I start rd. 110 / 114 —> 120 / 124 / 126 —> 128 —> 138 —>—> 110 BPM For this circle I need rd. 8 / 9 hrs.

lol :mage: :man_mage: come as you are, but don’t forget welder’S goggles, whistle and sparkler

and the LJ will blink his spotlight showing “danger , danger”

Enjoy the over 30th Parties

I can’t get on with that range at all! Guess it’s what you’ve got in your collection and what grabs you. I have a few 100bpm tracks that were early ‘mistake’ downloads. Couldn’t mix them at all. Now I steer clear of 92-110. Amapiano, I can cope with. 112-115. I also love playing half beat DnB. :woman_shrugging:

Totally agree with 128. It’s where the pop, dance, house, club, garage, mainstage stuff sits. I can’t resist a bit of Break Beats at 132-134 though

This is my playlist setup, so it’s fair to say that BPM just covers a tiny range haha:) I think mine stretches from 75 to 180 bottom to top.

I guess it’s easier to ‘hear’ why I love it rather than talk about it, the first hour or so of this mix is kicking around that speed, with a mix of genres, and a couple of tracks that feel much quicker.

I will enjoy that mix with a nice cold one on Friday afternoon!

And that’s pretty much the exact situation I was imagining when mixing it so perfect:)

There’s a few other ones on there too, ‘Beach Mix’ is probably one of the best sets ive ever mixed, or at least it’s my personal favourite, just seems to work and perfect for that sunset warm up for the evening vibe. Ramps up a bit at the end too.

I have to say im with everyone with the 128 thing too, it’s like early 2000s house speed, Afro Medusa, Johnny Corporate etc.

Its even my own cover art Beatmaster, id love to say its some exotic road to nowhere in some beautiful country… unfortunately its just the A1 in Durham:) … not the biggest Barry White fan but that track is genius, it properly grooves.

Imo it was Barry White’S best dance track. And this track I like as well and I played it for the crowd
