Agreed. You still have to check it, but now it gets it right most of the time. If there is a massive tempo change you need to rewarp from that point. I also add beats to the front and back of tracks with no lead in/out and sometimes add a little more underbeat to classic tracks missing some punch.
I bought DJ Studio but haven’t done much with it.
Ideally, Engine DJ would spend the $ to add fluid beatgrids. Then, I’d get lazy and use that.
It’s funny, I started off mixing vinyl and we had no such thing as grids, cues and loops. My biggest concern was knowing the music, sorting and carting crates. Technically, with Engine DJ you could turn off quantize, set a few cues at some anchors and spin away. Depends a lot on your style.
The best gigs I’ve done in years have been the gigs with my 45s, so much fun and nice having 2 boxes of records to choose from rather than 6500 tracks.
everyone feels the same, going back to my first pioneer small hifi that had controller attached so easy cue point first beat & it all sounded perfect no matter what music you played, 30 years on its just got stupidly hard and hasnt improved, all dj software suffer the same fate, improper analising of tracks, you would think if they charged for the software they would get it right. i used to do all fashioned way and listen cue first beat its so much easier , turn of your sync and dont rely on the software
I think that’s what a lot of people forget with Engine DJ software. It’s free. The r&d guys don’t go with the idea of “if we sell 1000 copies of our software then we’ll add fluid-lazy-DJ-auto-cue-point-warp-mode” not like the paid software does.
And no, it’s not appropriate ti suggest that a 10% slice of every prime hardware price tag is directed toward engine DJ software as the price tag on the prime hardware is such good bang for your buck, that there’s not really any slice of the price tag left unaccounted for by the hardware. There’s almost no “bloat” in prime hardware pricing.
If you build something you build it right was our era, nowadays its ok for a product to be faulty and sold new, shocking from cars to household products, get it right or its faulty in my view, and nothing is free in life
Hi, interesting discussion! I can confirm that in Traktor 4, “Respect” is out of sync, too. That’s why I warped it in Ableton 9. Why such an outdated version of Ableton? Because version 9 has, from my experience, the best warp function. As an event & party DJ, I have warped a lot of 70s & 80s funk, disco & soul songs. Talking about bands, most modern bands record & quantize their songs in DAWs like Ableton, so their songs have steady beatgrids.
Good morning everyone, I also encountered the problem, I not solved it by downgrading to version 4.3.1 from version 4.3.3.Now i check to downgrade to 4.3.0. I have a Prime 2 and in 5 years I’ve never had any problems, but during a couple of evenings this happened to me and it’s not at all pleasant, I hope that with the new versions these inconveniences will be resolved.
