Sync issue on Prime 4+ when loading tracks on unused decks

Hi everyone,

I’m currently using the Denon DJ Prime 4+ with the latest firmware installed, and while I’m very happy with the controller overall, I’ve encountered a frustrating issue that happens quite often during my sets.

Here’s the situation:

When I have two tracks playing and perfectly synced (using the Sync function), everything works fine. However, the problem arises when I load a new track onto one of the unused decks (either Deck 3 or 4). As soon as I assign the track, the other two tracks — the ones currently playing on the master — suddenly go out of sync.

This doesn’t happen every time, but in a 70-minute session, it can occur 2 to 4 times. It’s extremely frustrating, especially when mixing live.

I’ve already tested the following:

I’m using the latest firmware available.

I’ve tried changing the power source.

I’m loading tracks from both SSD and USB.

From what I’ve read, I’m not the only one experiencing this. Could this be a bug in the firmware? Are there any workarounds or fixes planned for this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried to in-sync the decks (shift+sync) before loading a new track in to 3/4? Maybe this helps and will not affect the current playing tracks as they should stay in sync

Thanks for your reply! I really appreciate your suggestion — I hadn’t thought of using Shift + Sync that way before. I’ll definitely try that in my next session and see if it helps prevent the issue from happening.

It’s a shame that the Prime 4+ has this kind of problem, especially considering how powerful and professional the unit is. Hopefully Denon will release a fix in a future firmware update. Until then, I’ll test your workaround and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again!

I’ve had this issue as well. Only did a 2 hour set, running mostly just deck 1&2 deck. Load up a 3rd track onto deck 3 when deck 1&2 are in sync, then “wala”, the 2 tracks playing go outta whack, even though deck 3 hasn’t even started playing yet. I really hope shift/sync works :crossed_fingers: Only problem is, does deck 3 recognize this input before choosing to select a track?

Ttied it. I didnt see anything to indicate that the deck Sync by doing this method.

I have a theory on this. Sometimes my decks switch automatically which one is the lead deck and that can mess up sync. I have yet to figure out why it switches. When it happens aongs can go out of sync. Would this relate to your issue?

Thanks for the insight! To be honest, I haven’t paid attention to whether the decks are automatically switching the lead/master deck when this happens — but now that you mention it, that could definitely explain the issue.

I’ll keep an eye on that during my next session and see if there’s any pattern or indication that the master deck is changing when I load a track into another deck.

Appreciate you sharing your theory — I’ll report back if I notice anything!
