Whenever I try to use serato or Virtual DJ with my computer I get really bad stuttering. I normally just use standalone anyway but I would like to give VDJ a whirl if I can get it to work. It’s 100% an issue with my computer but not sure where to start troubleshooting so thought I’d ask anyone has encountered this before.
computer is asus rog duo 2, AMD7945HX, RTX4090, 64gb RAM
When in controller mode your deck becomes an elaborate keyboard “controlling” the functions of the software. First optimize your laptop for performance with the software and turn off any unnecessary background programs that might be running. Below is a link to Serato’s optimization recommendations. Good luck!
If using Serato, go into the settings under the AUDIO table and INCREASE the USB BUFFER SIZE. The lower the buffer (closer to 1) the more demanding Serato will be on your PC
The spec has nothing to do with it. If the ASIO buffer is set too low, or there are just general design/config issues with the laptop, then it can affect the audio.
Ideally you don’t want to be setting Windows to use the Prime interface.
Set Windows to use whatever you have as onboard audio (Realtek?) then ensure the Prime kit is using the Denon ASIO driver with an appropriate buffer size.
Managed to get it working for a bit but there was no interface showing on the p4+ screen and then it went back to the same.
Tried with VDJ, no amount of fettling could get it to play.
Ah well, I’m still happy with standalone
If it’s a laptop, you probably have a control center type tool, to manage the different performance modes. (power saving, silent, entertainment, game mode, etc…)
Make sure you are in game mode or maximum performance mode. If you don’t have a tool provided by Asus, make sure you are in the highest performance mode in the power and battery options of windows.
You should always favor a high performance mode to use DJ software.
Everything is turned up to maximum, I’m no dummy with computers but it’s just not working for some reason. Thanks for the help, I’ll keep trying and post if I figure it out
I had no issues with my previous laptop (GPD winmax 2 6800u). So I have no reason to suspect it’s the prime unit.
I might try and borrow a laptop off someone just to make sure
So I started having issues with my laptop not booting up, like it’s dead as a dodo and after a certain amount of time anywhere between 2 minutes and an hour it will suddenly spring into life.
In the process of fault finding for that, it now works flawlessly with the prime 4+ (when I can get it to power up FML)
