I’ve had my Prime Go for about 3 years (and 3 very dusty afrikaburns). Most recently the “play/pause” and “cue” buttons on the right hand deck have started misbehaving (either requiring multiple presses or holding the button down until the controller actually responds).
Has anyone experienced this, and if so what did you do to fix the issue?
My initial thoughts are to take the unit apart, and blow everything out with compressed air, and failing that, replace the buttons.
The unit is unfortunately out of warranty, so its going to be up to me to get this fixed.
Had it with my other previous controllers, not the prime go (yet). It’s just the button wearing out… or they got moist/wet…
Best is to have it replaced. Somtimes some contactspray might help
For the DDJ-RR you could buy replacement buttons and with a bit of soldering swap it.
I checked a Primo Go take-apart video and it is some work, but with patience and some basic soldering knowledge can be done. But you need the spare button to fit… it’s an smd version which makes it a bit harder…
Search for “Denon DJ Prime Go Repair Tear Down” for a video, he is repairing the plastics though, not a button itself.
Yeah I found the video and had a look at it. Wish I knew the exact part number for the switches so I could just order them immediately and replace them outright.
As it stands im going to take the unit apart first, try and clean the switches and if still not working order new switches and solder them on.
The buttons are not sticky, the controller just fails to respond to button presses in a timely manner. From the physical perspective they feel fine. The issue is definitely electrical and not mechanical. No drinks were spilt on the controller.
Do you strip down your controller after every single gig Marco?
That does not answer my question of whether you perform a full tear-down (disassembly) and cleaning after every single gig, which I am guessing you do not.
Hence your advice to clean the device after every session is absolute ■■■■■■■■.
