Not sure it was advertised incorrectly or not with djkit but every video I’ve seen of the prime 4 plus had stems on it. Not one of them was with the standard firmware both my other prime 4’s have got in them
If you go back and watch/listen to those videos more carefully, they tell you clearly it’s an extremely early alpha build and it won’t be ready for public consumption until later this summer.
They essentially had to release the videos early as the updates had been leaked.
Just need to get my hands on the leaked updates then
They aren’t leaked ‘updates’, it was the coming features that were leaked. The updates will be going through testing before they are classed as stable enough for public release. If you notice the Stems didnt sound very good, not because thats how they are going to sound, it’s because its the first build.
They will be putting it into a beta for the Prime 4+ users so you’ll get early access no doubt.
My guess is that they’ll ask a few users if they want to take part. Play your cards right and you may be one of the lucky ones that get to test it.
What’s the view button like on prime plus? And faders?
Apple just added Stems to the ipad version of Logic Pro. Interesting.
Yeah, I noticed that. The new iPad Pro’s look amazing, but I think the 13" iPad Air with a decent amount of storage will hit the sweet spot for me.
Apple’s own M series silicon only.
Im due an upgrade to my 10.5 ipad pro and definitely looking at the new 11 inch Pro. If the Air comes with 120hz (it likely wont) ill be considering that too.
I want one with 512gb storage so i can keep all my music on it for DJing.
I used the Stem feature last night on my SC5000. I think its a great idea but the quality of the Stems isnt that great, in my opinion. You can hear the other parts slight vocal if you turn vocal off in the melody with everything else off. And you can hear the music fluctuate with everything on and drums off. If you were playing on a loud club system it would sound off putting. I dont mind paying for a feature, if the feature is worth it, but i think it still has a bit more development.
I’ve watched quite a few videos of them in action recently and I don’t think they are for me either personally. They clearly aren’t as good as the VDJ stems which I am used to using at most of my gigs so I’m just going to continue using the Prime Go+ as normal without them.
Of course improvement can always be made (for those that remember the first iteration of the VDJ stems weren’t great either) so maybe when the quality improves I’ll look at it again.
Someone posted a YT video of them on a SC live earlier and it wasn’t great at all.
I suspect the real improvement will come when there is new hardware that can support realtime stem separation on the unit itself.
But by that time people will be bored with stems and have moved on to something else. It’s a fast paced market these days.
My advice to anyone is not to expect too much from them, from any brand.
They are going to be at their most effective when used to layer music together rather than just cutting random tracks down to acapella level on their own and then complaining there are artefacts.
The drum beats are always going to be easiest as they are quite standalone in their sound. The other 3 can easily all meld into the same frequencies which will cause bleed.
Well that’s not strictly true. In most cases the VDJ ones are pretty decent. Yes not studio acapella or instrumental quality but certainly usable.
From what I have heard of the Denon ones they’re not even close but I agree they are best used for layering and not on their own.
You paid ten bucks, just ten bucks , just like the rest of us - it’s easily worth 20 times that
Yes its not much, but i send my mixes to other countries for underground radio stations. Im also a resident at a club where i play every two weeks. Its not the price of it. Id still pay $50 if i could use it to its full extent in my sets, but i just cant use it with some of the different stems leaking out or fluctuating.
It sounds like you need to be using one of the more complete options offered by computer based software then, if this is imperative to the quality of your sets.
The title of this thread is quite apt given the first 200 threads on the forum right now.
Perhaps the forum name needs to be changed ‘StemsDJ community’

Goodness gracious me, STEMS… Is such a buzz about nothing new or special IMO…
When the devices can create clean audible files, that don’t sound like they have been washed in a bubble bath, then they might have a little use.
Funny I haven’t seen any mention of how one might control the pitch of all these wonderful files. Remember you want to mix with them right, however they are assigned to a pad, and the pads have no real control other than PUSH function, Start - Stop.
No pitch, no speed, no key, nothing really that would indicate them as being useful.
Personally if you really love this function, I would love to see some demo mixes!? I have seen post about processing problems, time-out problems, stems not working problems, But no actual demo mixes or anyone actually using them live…
I think once the buzz simmers down, you will perhaps realize, that 90% of your gigs and event’s you won’t even use them.
Best stick to the old age "let me do a remix, re-hash of this track with that vocal, and do it in your DAW… Much cleaner and you will more likey use it.
Sorry I’m getting a little fed up of all the hype>
Lets stick to DJing and stop pretending to be James Hype, (BTW dosen’t use stems live in his mixes, he re-write and remixes in his DAW…
