Stems on sc live 4 - subscrption paid

hi friends,

i have a few questions:

  1. do we sign in somewhere on the DJ engine desktop (im using a macbook)?

  2. i seem unable to create any working stems (subscription paid)

I right click the song in my collection on the desktop when my USB is plugged in, and a file appears created in the stems folder in said desktop. It however just looks like a copy of the original. When i export this to be used on the controller, the ‘stem’ is there, in the right folder. But it’s just a copy of the regular file. It seems that no actual rendering occured.

Any guidance or help is very much appreciated.

regards

Hi :woman_raising_hand:t2:

on the SC Live 4 you need to log in with your profile … I wrote about this some time ago, I hope it helps:

HI. thanks for your reply. However, the issue is not with registration but with creating the stems themselves. I was not able to create a file with just the isolated vocals, like i was in serato pro, after buying the license. the created file, in the ‘stems’ folder seems to be a duplicated of the original file.

i hope this clarifies my query.

Did you test this on the hardware? I haven’t tried stems myself, but I know you can’t play them in Engine DJ, only on Engine OS.

You cannot play stems in the Engine DJ Library directly, you must use some hardware player. I’m not an expert on stems and stem files, I have not used this feature much beyond trying it out when it was new …

A stems file contains four audio channels (“stems”), typically Drums, Bass, Instruments, and Vocals. They are bundled in a single file. You can select and control them on hardware, but the file itself is not split into separate audio files.

On the SC Live 4 push the Cue button right next to the Shift button and you get four pads to control the stems

Does this work for you after loading a track? Can you select individual stems?

Engine DJ does not provide a native way to export individual stems as files. You would need third-party software if you want separate audio files, such as a DAW or one of the many online stem splitters …
