I’m honestly stuck here. Switching from Serato to Engine DJ is proving to be more challenging than I expected. I rely heavily on stems when mixing, and the way Engine DJ handles them is quite tedious.
Right now, I’m trying to generate stems for my 5,000-song library. I have 249 GB free on my Mac and more than 600 GB on my SD card, yet I keep getting an error that says my computer has less than 5GB of space!
Where is Engine DJ pulling that info from? I’ve already restarted the software, but the same error keeps showing up.
I even tried generating the stems directly to the SD card, and I still get the same message.
At first, I was able to process batches of 100, but now it doesn’t even let me do 10. I try 10, it does not even allow me to do 1 song and then throws the 5GB error again.
Thank you !!! That gave me the right directions… the issue behind Engine DJ showing the “less than 5GB free” error on my Mac even though I had plenty of space available. The problem was caused by macOS marking most of my disk space as purgeable, so the system only reported a few GB as truly free. The fix was to create and then delete a temporary APFS volume, which forced macOS to release the purgeable space. After doing this and restarting, my free space went from 5GB to over 140GB, and Engine DJ now processes stems without errors. Hopefully Denon is able to correct this issue in next update…
