Western Digital announces world’s first 8TB SD card and 16TB external SSD. Can’t wait to see the flood of “why won’t my playlist sync?” posts LOL j/k
“It’s taking too long to search my library”
Too many eggs in one basket.
Amazon will be flooded with “8TB” and “16TB” cards soon. And people will buy them and data will be corrupted.
These big cards are slower though, according to tech news sites.
Ooh, I’ve just seen a 2TB MicroSD for 32p. Looks just like a SanDisk (same font and colour scheme) but it’s SanDian. What a bargain.
Yes. TLC and QLC will be slower for sustained writes. These devices don’t have the same cooling or memory cache as SSD or NVME drives.
There’s an awful lot of people who’d buy that Sandian and wonder why their searches, transfers and saves take half an ice age.
Similarly, a few months back I saw some usb memory sticks in their hundreds, on an auction site, with options of 512mb , 1TB , 2TB etc for suspiciously low prices … it turns out, those mixtures of letters and numbers (eg the “1 T B” drive) was just a model name, not a capacity… just like a Volvo 740 isn’t necessarily a can with a 7 litre engine engine with 40 seats lol.
That’s made me go web browsing. I just found a very nice 1000HP sticker for my car.
C’mon meow! We all know that stickers add 5-10HP each.
For some reason, putting a “pioneer” sticker on a £1000 media deck, adds £2000 to the price
Branding comes at a price.
After all, there are LOADS of people who buy things because of trust of the brand name and even because they saw some celebrity DJ use the stuff. This is why sponsorships work for sales.
