I can’t believe what a bad night I had last night. Nothing but trouble the whole night! It started off with SS being totally unresponsive when I got to my gig & started the application. I actually posted on the facebook group asking for help, but it eventually started working, so I deleted that post thinking all was good…
About an hour into my set the lights just stopped & the application became unresponsive again. Luckily (and strangely) all the static looks worked, so I was still able to strobe & change the static colour the lights stopped on. The touch pad / fader on the Control one also still worked. The activity monitor on my mac (M1 Air) showed SS was not responding. All I could do was force quit SS (all the lights went out) & then try startup SS again… sorry for you…Not responding again! Eventually it comes back to life for about 2 songs & then totally stopped responding again. I normally use it with Engine Lighting & a Control One, but it has been so unreliable lately (doing the same thing, SS simply becomes unresponsive & lights stop working) that I decided to try run Serato & SS on my mac instead. But it was even worse. I tested it the last 2 days & it seemed to working fine, but when I went out tonight, it totally let me down! I’m almost ready to give up on SS. I’ve invested a lot of time & money into SS. I first bought the original big dmx box, then I purchased the small usb dongle as a backup & then I bought a control one. Obviously I pay the subscription every month as well. I simply can’t remember when last I had a gig where SS just worked the way it is supposed to. Right now it is just totally unreliable & I honestly feel like it’s not worth my money, time & effort anymore. If you owned the original big box….you should have the lifetime licence.
Why are you subscribing again?
I also have the Original Soundswitch V1 box and a lifetime license
I did have a lifetime subscription, but after I bought the Control One, there was no need for the v1 box anymore so I sold it. Unfortunately the lifetime licence went with it.
Oh ok. Thanks for the heads up
I did a 3 hour gig last night.

It’s def something particular to my setup. What OS are you running on your mac? Something else of interest is that I played again last night (huge night in SA for the rugby), but decided to use my P4 in stand-alone with Engine Lighting again. I’m happy to report that I actually had a trouble free night. What was different… I decided to try a different usb cable. So I guess the big question now is, could a usb cable cause the entire application to become unresponsive?
Hey @crazycraig would be great to work with you on this issue jump on a call if that works.
The issue with Serato are you able to reproduce this behavior I would be interested to getting to the bottom of this.
Was there anything different regarding the environment between testing at home and the gig?
The Engine Lighting Control One issue we believe we have fixed this I’m not sure if you are in the Engine Beta but the fix will be included in the recent beta builds.
Hi Liam, thanks for jumping on this. I will try to reproduce this issue during the week. So I actually never use my macbook for djing. I only decided to try Serato for the 1st time this past Friday night because I’ve been having SS issues with Engine Lighting. But because of the stress I had on Friday, I decided to use Engine OS on Saturday instead as the lighting issues wheren’t nearly as bad with Engine. And I’m actually more comfortable & familiar with it. Anyway, there was no difference between testing at home & at the gig apart from a different wifi connection. Now I actually saw on the SS FB group that some guys where experiencing issues when the wifi connection wasn’t too reliable. Because SS was unresponsive for about 5mins when I first started the application (nothing else was running, no serato or anything else), kind of makes me wonder what else could cause this. First thing that pops into my mind is iLok that needs an internet connection, so if wifi is unreliable perhaps it causes the app to hang. This is purely a guess on my side though. I am part of Engine OS beta, so I’m gonna check that out.
Apologies for the delay mate. The forum was down yesterday.
Yea if you could test this that would be super helpful let me know and I can jump on a call with you.
The Wifi issues are worth a look to see if you can reproduce you could try disabling wifi etc and see if that causes the issue.
Please keep me posted with how you get on and I can always get on a call if that would help.
