Hi Folks, I’m still having some issues with connecting SoundSwitch run on a MacBook via StageLinQ. Here is a video. It’s a pretty simple setup. Prime 4+ and the MacBook are connected via ethernet cables to the same switch. Wireless is switched off on both machines. SoundSwitch is configured for Engine DJ All-in-One, 2 Decks, Ch 1 and Ch 2 active.
As you can see in the video, the Autoloop starts running when I move the Ch 1 fader up.
However, it stops when I move the Ch 2 fader up. Obviously, the expected result would be, for (a different) Autoloop to run when moving the Ch 2 fader up. I had this working but all of a sudden it no longer works.
Wondering whether anybody has an idea what’s going on here.
What’s up @r2squared,
Thanks for sharing the video. I haven’t used SoundSwtich with my Mac in awhile (I typically run my lights with Engine Lighting direct from the Prime 4). I haven’t tested it, but I think it may have to do with the setup in the PERFORMANCE MODE tab. Try changing the settings to DECKS 1-2. As I recall (and could be wrong) SoundSwitch only recognize decks 1 and 2. GOOD LUCK!
Unfortunately, no matter what I set in performance mode, the issue persists.
Just tested with my P4. I think I’m connect the same as you.
- Mac WIFI is off
- P4 to Mac via ethernet
- Mac to DMX Lights via SoundSwitch USB Dongle
Did you try restarting SoundSwitch?
NOTE: The only difference is that I’m using my older Mac with an ethernet port. I don’t have an ethernet dongle for my newer Mac. I don’t this would make a difference.
Other than that everything looks good.
Thanks for taking the time! Have you connected both devices straight with an ethernet cable or through a network switch?
Also: Which exact version of Engine OS do you use? Is it a Prime 4 or 4+?
Thanks again for looking into this. Given the amount of issues I see online with this functionality, I’d think it would be a good idea for SS to add means for troubleshooting.
I did restart SS multiple times and also changed the order of switching things on.
I’m connected straight via ethernet (no switch).
I have a Prime 4 (not 4+) running 4.2. My older Mac running SoundSwitch 2.8 and is unable to run the latest version 2.9.
My newer Mac is on 2.9 but I don’t have a dongle to test it.
Any reason why you prefer using the Mac over Engine Lighting?
I’ve not seen the video but are you raising fader 2 past the height of the already playing fader 1?
Also, check if your faders are active in the Engine Lighting setup.
Another thing to check is the crossfader assign switches and if they’re set to THRU for that fader.
I actually managed to get it to work reliably. To help others, I’ve made a YouTube video: https://youtu.be/6-sCLk8-Yh8

Looks like you had to do a restart to get it going. I’m glad it’s working.
