This is a comment on the latest DDJT video, where Phil lists 5 problems people have with Alphatheta.
“If alpha theta was a monopoly they would have to compete with themselves cos people could just use their older gear. And they would have more money to do r and d with. And we would have less blue and green leds (shots fired at Denon)”
Ignoring the bed wetting over what colour an LED is, this guy essentially thinks a monopoly is an excellent idea because the threat of people using old Pioneer gear will force AlphaTheta to make competitive products, and give them more money to conduct research and development.
This is literally one of the worst comments ive come across, it redefines the word ignorant.
Sadly this is what we are up against in DJ world, and the exact reason certain companies don’t care about doing anything innovative.
I would find it difficult to disagree with anyone who suggests that such a scathing video, not shining everlasting sunshine on Alphatheta/pioneer would get stealthily taken down within seconds of free AlphaTheta/pioneer gear arriving on any video creators doormat
That commenter clearly has no idea how the world works, how market economies work, or how corporations think!
Ever heard the word “planned obsolescence”? In today’s world with all those licenses and no one really owning a product anymore, AT could just make older devices unsupported in a new version of rekordbox. And when a new Windows or MacOS version comes around and your old RBv6 stops working, you’re stuck with hardware that’s lost part of its functionality.
Or think replacement parts! I know for that for an old Technics 1210MK2, I can still get all replacement parts. Good luck getting a CDJ2000 fixed 10 years down the road if AT decides they don’t want people to keep using that old piece of gear.
That’s why I’ll NEVER buy anything Pioneer/AT. They have proven to be genuine a**holes. That’s why I have a Xone mixer (USB Class compliant, works without drivers) and Denon players. Or Traktor/VDJ/DJay Pro with any MIDI controller really.
