Smart Stem Echo Out / Reverb Out for Smoother Stem Transitions

Hello Engine DJ Team,

I would like to suggest a new feature for Engine OS called Smart Stem Exit.

Currently, when a Stem (Vocals, Melody, Bass, or Drums) is muted, the audio stops instantly. While this works well, a more musical transition would significantly improve live performances, mashups, and creative mixing.

Proposed Feature

When a Stem is disabled, Engine OS could automatically apply an effect before muting the selected Stem.

Example:

  • Press Vocal Stem OFF
  • Apply Echo Out (1/2 beat, 1 beat, or 2 beats)
  • Automatically mute the Vocal Stem

This would create smooth and professional transitions without requiring additional actions from the DJ.

Suggested Options

  • Echo Out
  • Reverb Out
  • Delay Out
  • User-selectable duration (1/2, 1, 2, or 4 beats)
  • On/Off setting in Preferences

Why This Feature Would Be Useful

  • Smoother stem transitions
  • Better mashups and live remixes
  • More creative performance possibilities
  • Reduced abrupt cuts when removing vocals or instruments
  • Similar workflow to the popular Echo Out techniques used by many professional DJs

This feature could benefit Prime 4+, Prime Go+, SC Live series, future Engine DJ devices, and desktop Engine DJ users.

Thank you for considering this suggestion.

FWIW. Stems already have an echo out when disengaging. It’s a setting.

More other FX on stems would be welcomed.

Furthermore, Engine Desktop cannot playback stems atm.

What stops you from doing fade-ins/-outs and applying FX using the mixer channel the stems are routed through? This seems quite redundant, except maybe being able to fade stems in/out using the touchscreen, similar to the touch fx on the SC6000 players.
