Signing in with DJ profile registers other peoples device to you

I created a Denon/Engine/Inmusic (confusing) DJ profile to login to my Prime 4+ and have all settings and logins in a ‘single sign on’. I thought this was a good idea from Denon/Engine/Inmusic. But after I signed in to someone elses Prime 4 with my DJ profile, that device was suddenly REGISTERED to me! It was literally MY product in MY Inmusic account, with all of the free downloads and stuff. Well, I thought maybe this only happened because the device was never registered before, like how Pioneer let you register it through RB only for the 1st time… (wait for it…) So I contacted Denon/Engine/Inmusic to unregister it and asked the rightful owner of the unit to register it to him (because maybe he never did). Everything was OK. Until yesterday I played on that unit again, logged into my profile (with the QR code ) and BAM! the Prime 4 was registered to me again. This should not happen. But it does.

It turns out interesting. That is, this is possible on any device.

I agree that this shouldn’t happen like that, automatically registering someone else’s device doesn’t seem right

I took my Prime2 out of its box, which was running 1.6. Updated all the way to 4.3.x. Logged on with my account, but the device wasn’t added to my account.

TBH, that function is still buggy to me. I see several devices more than double in my device list.

I wonder how my prime gear would work (if at all) if I created a Denon DJ profile and then one evening i tried to log in to the Denon DJ Profile while Denon DJs servers were down for maintenance or a server failure etc.

Starting around 4.0, one of my SC6000 asks to login every boot. Since I don’t use streaming or stems I just ignore it at this point.

Edit: It sill shows in my registrations.

The device will work and you can still bypass the Engine/Denon login to connect to Tidal or other streaming services. But the feeling of ownership is becoming less this way. Think about Pioneer and the ever changing ‘Rekordbox unlock devices’.
