For the past few days I’ve been having problems with short interruptions in the audio signal, at irregular intervals. I’m not sure if it’s related to loading tracks or if it’s another problem. I have the feeling it could be an overloaded processor. What can I do about it?
I only have it on standalone. All updates are made.
I came to the forums today because I’m experiencing issues where multiple times during a set, I am getting audio stutters. It’s happening as early as 10m into the set so far, so it’s not limited to long sets. It’s also happening multiple times per set.
It has happened many times while I am not touching the device at all (ie: Not loading a track)
I experience serious audio drop outs or stutter on lower volumes with my Prime Go+:
Quiet input signal, but not necessarily.
Channel fader in lower half of the range.
Main at low volume, i.e. far below 0 dB.
Not easy to reproduce but I was able to record a video where this happens without touching the controller. It often starts and then persists after quickly moving (= slamming) down a channel fader from the maximum to some lower position.
Sometimes the drop outs repeat more or less periodically after they initially occurred. But I even experienced a long drop out that lasted for the whole quiet intro section of “Hotel Room Service”, i.e. a few seconds of complete silence! During the drop outs the channel meters are still showing a signal.
Seems to be a problem with how the internal limiter is parameterized and working. The volume is fading in and out instead of changing abruptly. I need to open a support ticket. This behavior is unacceptable and very concerning.
I have the same issue when using Soundswitch and Beatport streaming on my Prime 4+. Sometimes randomly when loading beat port songs during longer sets (2-5 hours) I see screen delay along with short 50-300ms dropouts on the active channel through the master XLR out and my headphones on both sides if cueing at the time.
I have the latest updates and noticed also if i disable vinyl mode or do not use beatport streaming (turn off the checkbox) and only use internal music I am less likely to experience the issue.
This didn’t happen before the latest stems release.
I just did a one hour set from the Prime 4+ internal SSD, without Vinyl Mode, without ANY online sources (ie: No Beatport, etc). Not even using three or four decks, strictly two decks for this set. Engine DJ Desktop & OS @ v.4.2.1
(Though, technically, I do have my Samples routed though Deck 3, and I did play some samples, but nothing crazy)
There are dropouts of the audio, both heard live during the set, as well as saved in the recording. It happened at 19:17 and was 0.543 seconds long. These aren’t minor glitches. Half a second is a lot of dead time, and throws off the groove completely.
In the past, I’ve had this happen when I’m not doing ANYTHING on the controller. Literally, hands off, using the laptop or dancing. This time, I was previewing a few tracks when the dropout occurred.
I’ve double-checked the wavform of the track being played and this dropout does not exist in the file.
I am being forced to cancel and postpone my live events/sets as this is unacceptable for a live performance.
Edit: I will say, I never turn my Prime 4+ off. I use Standalone Mode when I’m using it, and then I switch to PC Mode and walk away. I’m not sure if there is any difference or benefit from a full power down vs switching to Standalone Mode.
My experience with that customer support system has been atrocious. It’s part of why i volunteer here. There were weeks of non-responses in the summer of 2023 when the SC6000Ms had audio issues with v3.4.
