SC6000M does not turn off after a GIG

Well hello! SC6000M, does not shut down after powering off. Screen is stuck on shutting down? Why? I have to hold the power button to shut it down just like a computer. Why this odd behavior?

Well hello @Raymond_Aa !

hey-wave

Could be a lot of reasons why shutdown gets stuck. Let’s start with what OS version you’re using and if you have any internal storage devices?

  • If so, try to power the unit on without mounting the internal storage and try to power off. If it fails…
  • Disconnect the internal storage and power on the unit, then power it down.

The reason I am asking is because a storage device could cause an infinite wait state for the OS during a read/write (shut downs sometime write to storage).

If it continues to fail, try downgrading your firmware. It might be your internal storage failing.

Please share your results.

Not shutting down is also something I had problems with my Prime 4+ 3.4.1.

Hi! Appreciate your reply, but I’m skeptic. I have the latest: 4.3.1. on my SC6000M’s. I wrote another topic about the X1850 with network problems, that also could be a problem. Please read that. There is something wrong in the network stack.

I’ve had a total of 8 different SSD disks in there. Properly formatted in all possible filesystems. It is hanging. If we leave it out then the procedure is normal. Wasn’t it meant to stick a disk in there? Could be read or write speeds, or writing to the OS. Agree. But hey, Denon should provide which speeds these buses can handle. Were is that in the manual?

After that we as the people can make a choice, which disks to buy. Now it is guesswork. I’m from a Linux environment. Debugging shouldn’t be done on a forum. Denon is too closed with it’s eco-system. We’re on the front and things break, but Denon should build in a proper way of logging system faults, I see all fancy flutter in updates, but basic stuff like updating ‘Auto relocate all’ function still isn’t working. Warp function isn’t up to par with vinyl recordings. It is embarrassing. So technical DJ’s should point out things that are broken. I like to see more, but I’m disappointed in a way.

We are running a filesystem here! I sincerely think that there has to be a log file that technical people should read themselves to debunk stuff.

Like a more open way to people that are willing to pay the most expensive set from Denon.

…Forgot this in my reply: I’m not going to downgrade if I don’t see a log that pinpoints the problem. That’s thin ice…

4.3.x has issues with performance. It’s pretty known at this point. Your choice not to downgrade.

Appreciate your help: But, All these firmware updates have their up and downside. I tell you this: These problems I have, have always been there.

Denon should fix it if it is known and Denon should test longer before sending out these firmware updates.

I’ve downgraded my unit to 4.0.0 as it’s stable, it’ll be staying there for the foreseeable, it’s a known problem at this point with the new release.

@djliquidice talks a lot of sense, you should take it on board.

Raymond makes a lot of good points in his posts (esp that thread about Engine Connect with X1850) but if he posts a question he already knows the answer to it’s just out of desire to rant and that is just wasting both mine and your time.

It’s not that I’m out there for a desired rant, or wasting your time. For me it was a USP to put a disk in my player. Not knowing it will not shut down for whatever reason. Pff. Your answer is EQ-less. I spend many hours before posting. I dig out stuff. I spend a lot of money and want some answers on things no-one seems to have an answer for. I don’t see anyone bring a solution here. No in dept information about speeds for SSD disks. How to properly install thel with what filesystem installed and why. It’s quiet here. Why? No-one is digging further on why this is happening. Reverting to older firmware is like pulling the plug when your firewall is shot. Ok the hackers win. NO! Waiting for a new firmware update and still not knowing what was going on? Me as an IT specialist likes to see where the problem lies. No logs visible is really not friendly.

And yeah. My topic on Engine connect is thoroughly tested. 38 times read. No-one replying. 1 like. That tells a lot about deeper knowledge of people here on the forum. Or they simply did not run into it, don’t understand it, or are just silent, because there;s another problem with the os. The heading of the topic should have been: Engine connect disturbs big GIG.

Not everything is a conspiracy Raymond, I’ve just read your Engine connect thread, the immediate thing that stands out, why are you running the connection through a router with static IP addresses assigned?

Doesn’t that mixer have 5 Ethernet ports on the back for connecting media players and a PC directly? Surely just plugging the decks into the mixer will result in a stable connection, given that’s exactly what InMusic want you to do.

It seems that you’ve created an issue by not following the guidelines provided by the company who manufacture the product, and now you’re blaming the company because you didn’t follow them.

I’m sure you’ll just label me as one of the ‘forum thickos’ you’re referencing in comment, but hey-ho.
