But in respect of that I’d expect a car to have ABS out of the factory, not have the dealer fit it 3 years later.
Each to their own I guess.

ABS - now days is a safety critical issue (more like a CUE button). Star rating in a player is more like a heated seats option - nice to have, but not needed for basic A to B car trip.
Pioneer/Alpha released the flagship CDJ-3000 without the ability to do it, then took 3yrs to put it right. And as @NoiseRiser states, ABS is a bad comparison as its a safety feature, the more relevant comparison would be something like Sat-Nav.
Strange thing is take any car to a track day & people want to turn off abs & tc to have that raw fun, many little sports cars like the Caterham 7 don’t have abs or tc.
I started driving when abs was a luxury, I didn’t have it on my metro turbo but I’m damn confident I can stop properly without it as I learned how to brake properly & not just slam the pedal down & hope the computer does the rest.
If I had the money (well I have) it’s more about space & convenience really, I’d buy my 1210s back in a heartbeat, just basic raw mixing passion without a computer in site.
Mine was a D Reg (1986/87 for non UK people) Mk2 Vauxhall Astra with only 4 gears and a manual choke, paid 400 quid for it in about 1998 so basically 1/3 of the cost of my Prime 2 for a full car, well half a car.
Now i drive an Audi Q5 that has 7 forward gears and i can ask Alexa to turn my living room lights and central heating on whilst im driving home, or find out the weather in outer mongolia, i cant do star ratings on my amazon purchases though, ill write them a feature request
Ironically my partner has a TT with a manual gearbox (that im not allowed to drive as im not ‘careful enough’ apparently ) and im itching to get in it for a drive as im so bored of automatic, its comfy but dull, much like using a digital DJ device compared a pair of 1210s.

Everything gets compared to cars doesn’t it lol… any subject on earth reverts back to comparing it with a car:)
Now, where to find some wheels of steel (or alloy).
I wonder if they do alloys shaped like turntable plates
Not sure (frantically searching) but you can get Lambo branded 1210s
My son has a 2017 TT 1.8 with the manual box. It’s an absolute hoot on the back roads.
Exactly the same model and year as my partner, ive told her we are keeping it regardless, the dealers wont offer anything part ex and it’ll be a classic in years to come.
Proper drivers cars are a dying breed.
Don’t overrate this. Most of the feature-info is out in plain sight, other features (or maybe lack thereof) is quite hidden, and overlooked over by reviewers.
If we start comparing this with cars anyway: When I bought my Mercedes V-class, I ticked the option to have the car alarm installed. Turned out this was a very bad choice: The alarm activates itself 1 minute after you close (not lock!) the door. So: you stop at the fuel station, step out of the car, close the door, fill up your gas tank, open the door again, and BAM, the alarm goes off. Or, you park your car in your driveway, step out, close the door, decide to wash your car, and after rinsing take the vacuum cleaner, open the door, and BAM, alarm goes off. I can assure you this info was not advertised. Normal car alarms activate when you lock your door, not close it. Ended up having the alarm physically removed, which was an action the dealer did on his own: unsupported by Mercedes themselves. If Mercedes had it’s way I had no choice to either go nuts, or sell the car… Actually Mercedes expected me to press unlock on my key if I open the door in the middle of a cleaning or fueling session…
So turns out there are other brands out there who make funny development decisions. And sometimes those will take you by surprise. When you check out the car at the dealer, do you really have time to try every little detail in the infotainment system? Did you never came home with a car, just to find something in the infotainment doesn’t work as intuitive you thought it would? And admit it, despite that little annoyance in the infotainment system, you would still buy the car. But it’s still a little annoyance…
As for Denon, yes, someone complaining about stacked waveforms not being possible on SC6000’s clearly hasn’t done his homework. But, let’s say, if you are disappointed by not being able to sort the prep list (I know, by now this is implemented), I can easily relate: it’s a very little unobtrusive feature which you could easily take for granted…
With the exception of “Batteries not included” it’s not the case that a retail box is going to have a list of every DJ feature, across all platforms listed as “not included” or “included” printed around the box
Exactly my point. You of course can and should do your research, but some things just won’t be clear until you’ve used a product yourself extensively…
I agree with you on that point, but let’s face it, 99% of complaints for ‘missing features’ that are usually followed by how they wish they had bought the competition or something about ‘they will never be seen in clubs’ is for some blatantly obvious feature you can easily see isn’t there.
The ultra niche things that are missing do however tend to attract the Armageddon crowd, the ones predicting the end of mankind because their offbeat little quirk isn’t there (see we can massively over exaggerate too).
Moin @STU-C,
Hey Beatmaster, right hand drive it was, for the British roads
Do you mean that from your perspective they (Denon) put more energy into compatibility with RB instead of making the product better?
