SC6000/M Serato Waveform Integration

Mufasa!

Thank you for all your help thus far. As stated, I sadly returned them and am waiting for updates that hopefully address the browsing, sorting, and metadata viewing. It was my fault for thinking that the Serato support would look better than it did. I contacted Serato and they said there is a “possibility” on future improvements to the support and functionality of the sc6000 but I bet they don’t change anything.

I read forum posts on how others integrate Serato and track updates weekly.

Whats your workflow for only adding new tracks to Engine Prime that were organized via Serato?

Thanks again!

I have tried several methods to get around EPs current limitations with Serato databases -

  • inability to update pre-existing EP crate - (eg you add a Serato Crate containing 10 songs, now you add 5 more tracks to the crate in serato, only way to bring that change into EP is to delete that EP crate and re-add from Serato). Whilst, this may not seem like much but if you are managing dozens of crates then it becomes impossible to keep track of which crates in Serato contains new tracks.

  • inability to update performance data for tracks already added to EP database (say you add track A to EP then you added more hotcues to A in Serato, the new hot-cues will not be added to EP track A). Only way around this is to delete the track from Collection completely and import again.

My methods

  1. In Serato I created one Main Crate, then had all my usual crates/subcrates nested under this. With this if i need to update my Engine Prime, i delete the main crate in EP and re-add this. I dont need to re-analyse and it populates the crates with tracks i may have added to Serato recently

  2. I got tired of doing this, so right now i delete my entire engine folder containing Database, which means i get to re-add my Serato completely. This method may not suit as you have to re-analyse or just analyse on the go each time

  3. Tried third party tools like the aforementioned Lexicon and the are alternatives like denon utility, mixo etc

I still use Serato as my main library management, i don’t see the point in active management of more than 1 database, i dont have the time. As long as EP continues to allow 3rd party import, i will continue to use what gives me the best versatility…serato.

Thank you!

I believe I tried your method. Does adding them after you delete your Engine folder make the files date added change to the current date?

Sadly, guitar center’s 14 day return policy accounts for shipping time so I only had about 6 solid days to figure out my workflow and it wasn’t enough. As you have stated before. I’m sure Denon will address these shortcomings and I’m looking forward to purchasing again when this happens.

I’ve never really seen the point of having separate playlists and also crates. Might just as well combine both of those “containers” and call them PlayCrates

No it does not, it appears to import the date created and date added from Serato.

I just tested it now by deleting engine database and performing a full serato import.

  • I can see date added stretching back to April 2020 (the date i rebuilt my Serato library)

  • Date created goes back to 2013 (Year i moved my music files from Internal drive to external storage)

OK, cool. I wasn’t getting that result. Might have been doing something wrong.

Excellent point. In Serato, there is a number column for how many songs are in a crate. You can re order songs through this column and then sort by that column, essentially creating a playlist in order. Another reason for Denon to mimic the way a file explorer UI is set up. It would allow them to remove the playlist section.
