SC6000 decks drifting over time

What would cause my SC6000s to change behaviour and now not hold their tempo, even with sync on?

I use BPM sync. Previously with this on, if I perfectly matched the beats, they’d stay permanently lined up.

But they are now drifting. I can’t complete a 40-60 second mix with them without nudging the platter part the way because the right hand deck falls behind. They are constantly drifting a little, even with BPM sync on.

What on earth could have caused this? They are well taken care of, home use only, live under decksavers, etc.

Variables tested:

  • Firmware upgraded from 3. to the latest one released a few days ago.
  • Tried from both USB drives and also direct from Engine on my laptop streamed via wi-fi Behaviour does not change.

Are you on sc6000 or sc6000M?

Just 6000. Not M

Try testing with instant doubles/Same track on both decks. Do they still drift ?

Well at least in this case we can therefore exclude a problem of grease becoming too hard
