SC5000 still a good buy?

Hi Everyone!

I’m thinking of picking up a pair of SC5000 and see the common issues with them are the inconsistent jog wheels and bad cue/play button feels. I don’t mind the aesthetics and smaller screen however.

It’s very tempting to purchase seeing they are about half the price of SC6000 currently. Are the problems identified exaggerated? Would it be recommended to put out for the SC6000 instead?

Thanks in advance! Kevin

You’ll be more than happy with the SC5000’s.

I have 3 SC5000’s, and have no problems with any of them. Never have had any issues.

No issues with my sc5000m’s. Well, mostly, a weird niggle sometimes switching motor off, not an issue if no spinning platters.

I have 2 and have had zero problems with them. The jog wheel issues have been few and far between and I haven’t seen recent issues (maybe a bad batch?) as for the button issue, I’ve had no issues but I’m not of the “button masher” type, although, I do use cd mode instead of vinyl mode most of the time.

I’m partial towards the 5000Ms.

I’m still having my SC5000M’s and love them, the best players I ever had… Next on the list 6000M’s

where did you order them? I’m looking for 2 new SC5000 (only non motorized), but can’t find them anywhere for a good price.

Amazon has one left. https://www.amazon.com/Denon-DJ-SC5000-Prime-Multi-Touch/dp/B01MY6FUE8/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=denon+sc5000&qid=1615431235&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011&rnid=2470954011&rps=1&sr=8-2

I ended up buying them on Amazon. My local guitar center was willing to price match but none in stock so they offered to have a couple shipped in from a different store. It can take up to 5 business days they said but you may have some better luck.

ive buyed them all on Thomann.de … and if anything going wrong with the units, you write mail and/or call the support and you will helped there, so my experience.

yes but it looks like noone has any new units in stock inside Europe for serious pricing. Last stock price at Thomann was 799€. Most european retailers outlisted the SC5000, maybe the unit is EoL.

The 5000s are still great units. Actually better than ever - half the price compared to 2017, initial bugs ironed out and new great features added, especially Wifi and Dual Waveform. I never found them ugly either, the product image renderings were kinda awful but in unboxing videos or real life, they look really sleek. Afaik the issues with the jog where solely about the tension adjust - if you prefer the wheel light and smooth anyway, there shouldn’t been any issue.

Since there is still no Serato support for the Prime 2 in sight and the Prime 4 is too bulky for me to carry around everytime, I have decided to go for a modular combo, DDJ-1000SRT and SC5000.
