SC5000 Doesn't See New NVMe SSD

I purchased an Intel 670p 2tb NVMe SSD, put it in a SSK enclosure, formatted it fat32, and copied music to it. Engine on my computer sees and loads everything from it, like it should. However, none of my four SC5000 players detect it. Any ideas?

What is the drive format?

Fat32. It wouldn’t be recognized in engine on my computer if it wasn’t.

I recommend ExFat for drives above 16GB. Engine Dj on the computer can see almost all types of file systems. Just will not export to these that are not supported. (For example I have a APFS on my macbook and Engine can read all tracks from it). Check if the ExFat reformatting will help.

Actually, engine on the computer won’t see any drives that’s not formatted in a compatible format, even if the computer recognizes and mounts it.

Exfat is prone to corruption if you remove a drive without ejecting it properly, AND Pioneer’s ecosystem doesn’t support exfat, and my drives are setup so they can be used on both engine and rekordbox, so that’s not an option. I have a 2tb sata ssd in an enclosure that works just fine formatted as Fat32, so formatting can’t be the culprit. I’m thinking the Denon hardware just doesn’t like the enclosure’s chipset for some odd reason, even though the chipset used is the most popular chipset for current external enclosures. I don’t know what to do, other than return the nvme ssd and the enclosure, and buying another 2tb sata ssd. Sad tbh.

How come pioneer doesn’t support excat, when I run exfat usb’s on cdj’s almost every weekend…?

This also could be the issue…

Try a good branded units like kingstone, goodram or samsung maybe…?

My mistake; most pioneer gear doesn’t support exFAT. Most of the gear in clubs isn’t compatible with exFAT. Needless to say, that won’t work. Refer to the attached image.

Maybe not enough power from the USB ports on the 5000

You could test with a powered hub.

It powers up the drive; the led on it lights up bright. Yeah, I don’t have a powered hub to test with. I’ll try to find one.

I suspect the NVMe to usb chipset may not be recognized by the SC5000’s

Great. Reads fine on pioneer decks.

Also - try your drive in the rear ports not the front ports on the sc5000. The rear are 3.0 the front are 2.0

I’m using this kingspec enclosure with a western digital 770 2tb formatted to fat32 with my sc’s. Works like it should.
