SC5/6000 & x1850 vs Prime 4+ Controller for streaming

Hey Everyone…hope everyone is doing awesome! I have a question for those that know because I really only have 1 shot at this because of finances.

A little about my background… I started dj’ing and producing back in the mid 90’s on vinyl of course…resisted against the movement towards cdj’s although I embraced PC producing (i know, im weird lol)…and stopped dj’ing in the mid 2000’s due to a move, but kept spinning in my home and making mix cd’s for friends. I’ve always had an open mind when it comes to gear. Of course I have always Pioneer and have always used it. But I did have a pair of Numark Pro TT’1 turntables which were awesome and I’m currently still using an OLD Numark Mixtrack controller…but here’s where I’m at now and what Im reaching out to the community for…

Im now disabled and can’t really get out of the house much. My kids are pushing me to start a youtube channel so they can help with camera’s and producing on OBS. However, I still use analog gear mostly (DJM-500 mixer, AT LP140X turntables and CDJ-1000mk3 decks) Basiclly I built my old club setup minus the Tech 12’s. I do still use my Numark controller but it’s old and it’s probably time for an upgrade some of the buttons are starting to get finicky. Watching Laidback Luke’s videos and Digital DJ Tips have sold me on the switch from Pioneer to Denon DJ…Money is tight and I’m going to have to sell some stuff to upgrade… so here’s my choices… Separate components SC5000 or SC 60000 decks with an X1850 mixer or… New controller Denon Prime 4+ I still want to use my turntables and I know I can through the x1850 but will the Prime 4+ controller let me use my records and Timecode vinyl on the 2 external channels?

I also saw the Prime 4 will do stacked waveforms…will the SC6000 do that as well? The only video’s ive seen where they will is if you’re using an LC6000 for a separate layer on one player…but none with 2 SC6000’s on separate channels. Not a deal breaker just curious.

Anyway…I appreciate peoples input. I prefer having separate components just in case one thing breaks im not totally out of the game, but not opposed to going the controller route.

I was deciding the same thing. After attempting to buy new, unused sc6000/x1850 from my loval Guitar Center, I received open box sc6000s that were damaged. I tried again and was informed the they did not have new Sc6000s in stock. On further digging I found out the sc6000s are no longer being produced. You know what that might mean, right?

I ended up going with the prime 4+ and got it delivered today. Looks like it has all the features of the flagship swt up other than pre-listening to FX in the headphones prior to sending them live. Thats also a missing feature on my prime go so it seems to be a standalone system feature that was left out. No tap button on the mixer either. Aand no 3/4 loop that I’m aware of. :frowning:

I really wanted the flagship but wasn’t willing to risk used gear. Nor did I want to order online and have to deal with potential returns through the mail.

My plan is to play on the prime 4+ until new generation gear is out. Then either sell the prime 4+ and recoup what I can before going with the flagship, or just breaking the bank and adding the flagship. Might as well spend money on myself and enjoy the remainder of life vrs giving it away to rent, bulls, and the stock market, etc.

Didn’t really answer your question but sharing my experience

What software was used for your Numark controller?

It will but unlike the club setup (x1850+players) you will not have the option to mix one track from Serato with a standalone track at the same time - the Prime4 needs to be rebooted from controller<–>standalone mode.

When you use turntables with real vinyl connected to Prime4 in standalone mode you will not be able to use ALL Prime4 FX, only 4 sweep FX.

Correct. But LC6000 is not necessary to see 2 layer waveforms on one player, you can enable or disable views or even the layer. But as stated, you cannot see on one player screen waveforms from other units.

I use it with VirtualDJ…its OLD though…it’s the first version of the Mixtrack. Now that I have my full Denon setup…x1800 Mixer and 2 SC5000s…im thinking of getting a Pioneer standalone controller just to stay fresh with the pioneer interface…especially with accessing tracks in case of the rare chance I have a set in a club.
