the waveforms split into two, one form bpm then only turning it off helps. Has anyone had this happen?
Maybe more context would help? What are you doing at that moment?

At a guess it sounds like you have smart scratch enabled, where if you hold the deck the waveform splits in 2 (top half carries on moving while bottom half stays still until you release the deck) but I could be wrong, personally I turn it off.
Slip Mode would be my guess also.
