SC LIVE4 - Too much latency on CUE and PLAY

Play/Cue latency is a really big problem. Can’t Denon fix it???

Do you have quantise enabled ? I never noticed any latency on a buddy’s SC live.

The latency is the same If quantize is enabled or disabled!!! The same problem has also been highlighted by other people and you can find evidence in this video:

How about posting your own video of it happening so people can see the issue?

Yeah, thats not your own video, im asking YOU to do a video of the problem YOU are having, not some random guy on Youtube.

That is how reporting an issue, and getting help with your issue works… not some blanket statement followed by linking some random video created by someone else.

You’re calling it a ‘big issue’, yet this is the first time many of us here are seeing or hearing of such an issue, which obviously poses some questions around the size of the issue.

the problem I highlighted is exactly the same as the published video that I posted for convenience. I updated the firmware to version 4.00 and the problem remains essentially the same. It’s not a blocking problem but the slight delay between pressing the Cue/Play button and the song start is very annoying. As soon as I manage to publish my personal video, but the substance does not change.

I can’t confirm from my side, no matter if Quantize or Sync was enabled or not.

But I will keep a closer eye on that when recording my next video set.

Pioneer users need to adapt and press the buttons more in the center and not at the edge.

Probably a difference in button response and Pioneer round button muscle memory. So imagine an inner circle in a square and press that.

TBH. I like the rubbery button more than the hard plastic ones, but the same goes for those; use center instead of edge.

Edit after the obviousness: don’t have an SCLive unit to test.

I noticed some latency when i was playing with the SCLive at my local shop. I just chalk it up to being a display model.

Could be a thing or not.

My SC6000 and 5000 has less latency.

A buddy of mine has an SC Live 4 and just tested it too. There is indeed some latency. This latency is not present on my Prime 4, it is perceived as instant to me. I suppose there is some kind of buffer somewhere in the signal path of the SC Live. I recall people experiencing latency on it with the microphone as well.

There is about 63ms latency between a button press (red) and the audio actually starting (blue). He tested it with Engine 4.0.0 and the internal speakers by the way.

63ms is a lot! I am playing very aggressively and do a lot of drop mixing, and I never encountered any latency on my sc live 4.

Yeah, it is definitely noticable. Do you also use the internal speakers? If you believe you have less latency, could you make a video of that or measure it as well?

Prime 4 is around 26ms as it seems.

I use internal speakers mostly. As SC Live 4 is my home play unit. These little speakers are enough to test the tracks if they fit nicely together. I do a lot of scratching too. So definitely I would notice.

Well, we’re checking out the latency of the cue and play buttons, not the jog wheels. So unless you mean that you use a lot of hotcues when scratching, your experience doesn’t necessarily rules out the cue/ play latency.

I think it would nevertheless be interesting to find out whether there are differences between units, and zoom in on the cause of it.

I can’t say i have had this issue with my sc live 4 it has been very reliable i use it week in week out it has only crashed on me once

It would be great to see videos from users that believe they don’t have this latency. It would show that somehow there are differences, and that some devices would be more responsive than others. Until now, the evidence seems to point out the opposite though.

A short video would be enough. As long as both the button click and transient of the audio playing are audible, it would be suitable to measure the latency.
