SC LIVE 4 - Waveforms drifting apart

Hi everyone!

I’m having a very annoying issue on my SC Live 4 (running the latest firmware, but it has also happened on previous versions).

Sometimes when I’m mixing two tracks with the same BPM, the waveforms show a strange visual offset. It looks like one track is displayed at a slightly different scale, so even though they are actually in sync, the waveforms appear to drift or slide apart. It’s hard to capture on video because it happens randomly, but the display becomes almost useless for checking sync when it occurs.

When the issue starts to manifest, then it happens on every song until I restart.

I also tested grids by using the same track on both decks.

Has anyone else experienced this?

It doesn’t happen often, but when it shows up during a gig it’s quite distracting. Restarting the unit temporarily fixes the issue.

Audio is in sync but the waveforms move at different speeds. I had this bug. Are you on the latest os version?

Try a factory reset

Most curious thing is that I had this behaviour on the Prime Go +, on Rekordbox for Windows, and also Rekordbox for Android. This happens totally randomly, Rekordbox for Android is the one that does it most times, very rare on Rekorbox for win and just twice on Engine OS.

Ok last night i playing at an event and it happened again randomly after one hour of gig and it kept going till the end. I couldn’t stop the music to reset.

I’ll try with a factory reset.

I have a video of this

This looks like the old form of wave display creation. At the playhead marker it’s on time and on beat. I think VDJ or Serato did the same.

In the new form the wave display should stretch or compact to show all beatmarkers on time.

Have you set tracktime to dynamic in prefs?

Exactly like it did on my Prime Go +, Rekordbox for Win, and Rekordbox for Android!

Yep, happened to me too, also i tried to adjust the tempo fader but the waveform was frozen in that position.

try be helpfull, is not about how you mix, it is about the behaviour of the gear

Hi all - This is currently a known issue and has had many reports on the forum and social media sites.

We have a fix inline for a future release.

If you want a fix build quicker, I recommend getting in touch with Engine support Support | Engine DJ as they may be able to get you access to a special build to test this fix.

Gotta ask, but roughly how close/far into the future are we talking?

As it stands at the moment I’m still using 4.2 on my device & desktop as its the most stable build & I’m a little wary of upgrading.

Same issue here. Very annoying. But I found out a workaround without restarting the SC Live:

The last time it happened I ignored it, but while mixing I needed to beatjump and then I noticed the waveforms were suddenly synced again.

A little later the strange behavior happened again → beatjumped → waveforms were synced again.

Maybe a little helper until the new update gets released?

I’m using 4.3.3 btw.

I really hope this gets solved in the next release.

I have another gig tomorrow, will let you know if it happens again after factory reset, sd card reformat and beatjump workaround.

The fact Denon knows well has known about this for some time and has not prioritised this (from a customer perspective) is a little bit disconcerting I have had this issue also and it has been happening for a few months i was hoping the last update may have a fix don’t get me wrong 7/10 times it works without issue but once it starts happening aside from turning off the unit which you can’t do mid set its annoying as i have keep telling myself the mix is on beat even though the lines are drifting easy to forget in the middle of a customer requesting a song

Think you missed this one

That hadn’t worked for me from memory, but if it happens again will try it out

This happened to me with SClive 4 and now with a new Prime 4+ . none of the solutions on forums or AI will fix the problem for me until I turn the controller off and start from new. This problem has existed for a long time!!

This has been happening to me since september… it is a shame that it has not been fixed yet.

At least using beatjump is a temporal workaround, but this should be fixed. I want to sell my SC Live 4, but who ever buys it is going to think that I scammed them…

The time it is taking devs to fix reported and acknowledged bugs is simply ridiculous.
