SC Live 4 & Third party power supply

I have a question regarding using a third party power cable with the SC Live 4.

The original power cable stands that the output is 12v 3A 36w … my question is, can I use a power cable that delivers 12v 5A without damaging the equipment? … I don’t know a sh**t about electrical things but doing a google search it says that more amps are ok, as long as as the volts are the same, anybody tried something similar?

Appreciate your help.

Yes you can use it without problems - Same voltage, equal or more amperage. It will not damage your equipment.

If the SC Live drains 3A from the original 3A power supply, it will drain the same 3A from the 5A power supply.

Confirmed. Also, the real power consumption is far below. I often work with powerbanks (the XTPower series) which feature a display to gauge the current wattage: 15-20W or ≈1.5A is far more realistic on the Live 4. The Mixstream sits even below 1A. But for the sake of safety margin, I wouldn’t go below a 24W/2A transformator. Oh, and ensure that the +/- polarity of the plug is correct.

Btw, this is one reasons why I (unlike e.g. Phil or Mojaxx) prefer external power bricks over kettle leads. Keeps the heat and high voltage out of the unit, gives the flexibility to work with portable power sources, and you don’t have to use the OG power brick, if you follow some basic rules.
