Guys, I bought Powerbank with PD 2000o mah + usb C PD to 12v adapter and this crazy little ■■■■■■■ takes max 19,2 Wat when everything is set to max (built in speakers take up to 0,6 Amps on full power). On that powerbank this gear can work for 3 hours straight xd
Update: 2hours in mix and 60% of battery remaining xd
Update 2: after 3 hours of set, 40% battery left. Outstanding
This means arround 5140mah = 19.2 Watt
Ikr? Using a compact XTPower 15600 for some of my outdoor mixes since 2022. That‘s where the (often frown upon) 12VDC input of the Live 2/4 comes in handy.
I prefer 12V Brick power supplies when most prefer IEC. My theory is if you are going to have catastrophic failure it is likely going to be Power Supply, you can replace an external power supply, you cannot replace an internal for most users. Actually I believe all gear that can be run off of USB-C should at this point.
That’s the point where I’m with you (and in disagreement with Mojaxx, Phil & Co. who tend to complain when spotting a 12VDC input). An external PSU acts like a filter and keeps the high voltage (+ heat) out of the unit, while also saving internal space. My preferred solution would be a redundant DC barrel plug + USB-C power delivery system, at least for all smaller to medium-sized unit (Mixstream to Live 4, or similar).
And most IEC connectors can be rather wobbly, too. My two Stairville Wild Wash lights are a good example of that, their sockets feel meh. If IEC, either give me a locking option, or make it powerCcon straight away.
Which adapter you bought? Would be interesting for BBQ sessions
.
Some from amazon pd usb c to 12v (with variable voltage which I can change using button). I also ordered some pd usb c to directly 12v which will be more secure (no one will change voltage from 12 to 15 by accident - I don’t know how sc live 4 handle that
It’s not proprietary. Locking IEC is standard on many devices (for example video screen controllers). It’s called V-lock IEC and was developed by company Schurter.
Mor locking IEC options you can find below:
@Skaratak - there are IEC plugs that you can use to lock your IEC cables in the device without changing the socket (IEC C13 A-lock or also IEC Lock version)
Hi,
I use power tool batteries (ryobi) for this, with an adapter that has usb pd + usb-c to 12v cable.
It works very well ![]()
I can confirm it works for hours this way.
