Save loop as sample

Set a loop - or activate a saved loop. Save that loop as a sample to a deck you have set up as a sample/remix deck.

Traktor allowed this and I miss it greatly.

This would be a great addition, opens door to more creative mixing

Holding ‘Shift’ and ‘Roll’ on Numark Mixstream Pro allows you to save samples in your pads. Don’t know about Denon gear. I did see a video where a guy made a recording of all the samples he wants in his set, using silent 3 bar gaps. He cue points the start of each sample and adds an ‘active’ loop on the middle bar of silent part. That way, the sample won’t run into next and you just hit the cue pad for each sample. Guess you can manually loop the sample aswell then.

Really? Nothing about this in the manuals, for the Numark or the Denon units. Just tried with my Prime 4 and it doesn’t save anything.

Shift + Roll already has a function, so it does seem a bit strange for it to behave differently on a related unit, or have a second function.

‘Shift and Roll’ is the function to use your samples. Hold ‘Shift’ and double click ‘Roll’ to make 4 into 8. 4 on left. 4 on right. For those that don’t know, you assign samples to pads, same way you would choose a track. When you choose the sample you want (in sample mode), the screen gives you all the options you can add to (decks or pads). Tap the pad you want it to go to. Easy mapping. Most of this was available before update but it’s slightly easier to map samples to pads than before and it ‘Saves’ your chosen samples. ie they stay assigned to pads even after powering off. Hope that’s clear. There is an old ‘how to use samples in engine dj’ video on Youtube.

Yes, that’s the normal documented use of the sample pads, but this thread is about saving (recording) a sample from a deck with a playing track to a pad.

[edit] oh no wait, actually it’s not. Jangla wants to copy a loop to another deck. We can clone decks, right? Does it clone with a looped section if there’s one active?

No you were right first time: this thread is about saving (recording) a sample from a deck with a playing track to a pad

But…but…you said deck

Anyway, yes the “sampler” (if you can call it that) needs some love.

“Set a loop - or activate a saved loop. Save that loop as a sample”

I should have stopped typing right there

This would be a great edition.
