Hi everyone,
I’m trying to find out whether anyone has experienced something similar with the RANE SYSTEM ONE or has any idea what might be causing this.
My unit is showing a very strange behavior:

Engine OS boots normally

Touchscreen works perfectly

USB drives are recognized

Music library loads normally
-
BUT the complete hardware surface randomly stops working:

no buttons
-
no LEDs
-
no encoders
-
no faders
-
no jog functionality
The strange part is that this is not a permanent issue.
At an event, the unit completely failed and I could not get it working again. Back home, after several power cycles, it suddenly started working normally again, only to fail again later.
Things I already tried:
- Complete power disconnect multiple times
- Removed all external devices except power
- Repeated restarts
- Firmware/software checks
- Tested with and without connected media
When the issue occurs, it almost feels like Engine itself is alive, but the hardware/control surface part is simply not being initialized or detected.
I’m mainly trying to find out:
- Has anyone seen this exact behavior before?
- Is this known to be a firmware issue, control board issue, ribbon cable issue or power related issue?
- Is there any service or diagnostic mode I can access?
I’ll probably discuss options with the seller next week, but I have to admit I’m already a bit frustrated because I previously had a bad experience with a RANE ONE MK1 repair case through the inMusic Germany service chain. That issue dragged on for such a long time that the purchase eventually ended up being reversed completely.
I’m not trying to start a manufacturer bashing thread here. I’m genuinely trying to understand whether I’m dealing with a known issue before sending the unit away.
