Rane System One Engine OS 5.0.2: Pressing CUE on outgoing deck makes incoming track jump backwards

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing a serious issue with my Rane System One running in standalone mode on Engine OS 5.0.2.

The problem happens during transitions from one song to another. When I bring in the incoming track and then press CUE to stop/reset the outgoing track, the incoming track suddenly jumps backwards. This is very worrying because it affects the live mix and makes the system unreliable during performance.

I am not using a laptop or Serato when this happens. The unit is being used fully standalone with music playing from the internal drive.

I have already tried several resets, but the issue is still happening. I would like to know whether anyone else using the Rane System One on Engine OS 5.0.2 has experienced this problem.

Things I would like to confirm:

Is this a known Engine OS 5.0.2 bug?

Could this be related to Sync, Lead Sync, Quantize, beat grids, or motorised platter behaviour?

Is there a specific setting I should check or disable?

Could this indicate a hardware fault with the unit?

At the moment, I am concerned because pressing CUE on one deck should not affect the other deck that is currently playing. Any advice from other Rane System One users, Engine DJ users, or support staff would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

DJ Sao Tao

I own a System One and after reading your post I attempted to recreate this issue. I’m also on 5.0.2 using it in standalone mode and I wasn’t able to recreate your issue. I played a track and transitioned in the incoming track and pressed cue on the outgoing track, the incoming track continued to play without interruption. Note, I performed this at least 5 times on with different tracks and with and without sync enabled. No issues on my end.

@Siroht does this mean that my unit is faulty?

I also experienced an issue while using Serato DJ where the waveforms disappeared from the Rane System One display, although the audio continued to play normally.

My Rane System One is only six days old, as I purchased it on Sunday, 28/06/2026.

I’m not sure if your unit is faulty as this appears to be a software anomaly. I’d suggest performing a reset and/or check your settings to see if there may be a setting that may intentionally cause this behavior.

@Siroht I’ve done several resets, but the issue is still occurring. It doesn’t happen often — only after playing for a while and increasing the BPM from low to high. That’s when the problem starts.

I see that you posted your issue on the Rane forums. Hopefully they’ll chime in and help you out.

@Siroht That is if I am lucky. Have they ever responded to you before?

This is now the second Rane System One controller I have had. I purchased the first one on 21/06/2026, and by 25/06/2026 it had developed a fault. I returned it to the retailer, who replaced it with a new unit on 28/06/2026.

Unfortunately, this replacement unit is now also giving me similar issues. This is very concerning, especially considering how new both units were.

Luckily I haven’t had a need to request their help, but based on the activity on their forum they usually respond…just not in a timely manner.

Regarding your issue, you’re experiencing the same issue on 2 brand new units leads me to believe that it has to be a setting that’s causing this behavior. The chances of 2 new units received within 1 week of each other should definitely point to something other than hardware related.

Can you upload a short video of this issue happening? Also have you tried firmwares 4.6/5.0/5.0.1 to rule out if this behavior is only related to 5.0.2?
