R.I.P. Juno Download 🪦

Juno Download has officially closed its digital storefront:

It’s been our privilege to share some of the most incredible music from the most amazing artists, but we’re sorry to say, that the time has come to say goodbye.

For trance DJs especially, Juno Download was far more than just another store. It served as an archive of older releases, obscure label catalogs, and exclusive tracks that were often unavailable elsewhere. With its closure, we have also lost an important source for older releases, including many tracks that are unavailable on other platforms and have now become lost media.

It’s a real shame.

 Oh no, they had some tracks not available elsewhere, at least, that is, in lossless format. I’ve shopped there since 2008. I appreciate their suggestions for Mixupload and Volumo, as I never heard of them. And, Juno.co.uk is still an option for vinyl/CD, although shipping to the US is expensive. I also miss DMCdownload.

I guess Beatport has stabilized. I hope we keep TraxSource, 7Digital, Qobuz, Bandcamp and Discogs.

Suddenly, I don’t regret those last huge file scoops at all, where I thought I might be overdoing it a little … The greed was right: it could be gone tomorrow. And it was.
