Hi,
Wondering if anyone can confirm if the Prime 4+ has the same Rockchip RK3288 Processor chip as Prime 4?
Trying to justify whether Prime 4+ is worth an extra 400 over an open box Prime 4 I can return.
Thanks

It all comes down to how much youâre wanting to use the upcoming Stems feature. So far we have been told that its only available on the new Prime 4+, so if that is the feature youâre looking for, its probably best to pay the extra for the device that is definitely getting it.
Agreed with Stu-C.
We know stems are coming to the Prime 4+ but we have no information whether or not itâs being added to other Prime hardware. Treat it as it NOT coming to additional hardware and if it does, itâs a welcome bonus.
As Stu said, how much do you need standalone stems? You get Serato DJ to play with with the standard Prime 4 and that includes stems but remember thatâs tethered to a laptop.
Personally Iâd get the standard Prime 4 and play with Serato DJ stems. They will most probably be better and I can live with the laptop connected for this one particular feature. You may decide you want it standalone though.
Remember: Stems in Engine only appear to be vocal & track. With Serato DJ itâs four elements (vocal, bass, melody & kick). After a few years of giving us many stem tracks to play with, most people use it for creating acapellas or instrumentals. This appears to be the route Denon DJ have gone.
Virtual DJ initially gave us six stem tracks, Serato DJ and Djay gave us four, (along with Traktor DJ but they were REAL stems), Pioneer DJ offer us three stems and Engine DJ appears to be two. Letâs be honest, I can see most people using two. As DJs, most of the time we just want to lift acapellas or create mashups with instrumentals and Engine have gone the right way with giving us a simpler option that can be built upon as the years pass by.
Youâll future-proof yourself more with the Prime 4+ as we donât know what else will come to it but letâs be honest, the existing Prime 4 is a fantastic bit of kit and has proved itself so much they didnât even want or need to play with the design for the â+â model. It just works and it works right. If you miss a lot of the Prime 4+ stuff just connect to a laptop and play with Serato DJ.
I bought a new Prime 4, 4 months ago. I do not care for stems or amazon music. I love the christman tree lighting and the way the performance pads are litt ( sorry i am dutch do not know how to spell litt ). Itâs better then the way they are litt now with just a small strip on above in stead of all around. I guess the question is do you need stems and Amazon?
Some may find it a bit odd that people are even bothering to ask what the process or RAM size etc is inside the Prime 4 or Prime 4 Plus.
It might be a fair question on an Asus xyz123 with a Gigabyte motherboard and a anti-bitcoin farming GPU, where thereâs some possible chance of transplanting one of the critical top 5 components for some special offer chip this month from SuperTarget/ Walmart but, as far as we know, thatâs not the case.
Nor is it that anyoneâs going to be able to point at a particular component in a Prome and say âwell with that chip, weâll never see the following 13 firmware requestsâ as look what massive jumps if free firmware features weâve been given for our primes in the last few months along, on a processor/support chipset from 7 years ago.
Yeah I guess its more trying to get my head around how theyâve released a new product with no actual hardware upgrades as frank has said I tend to agree the lighting on the controller is a downgrade as well.
Just donât understand how they could ever consider keeping stems to Prime 4+ only if its identical hardware to Prime 4. Couldnât give a toss about Amazon, more useful feature would have been genius recommendations as can be seen on VDJ

Whereas some percentage of would be purchasers, would consider that to be a significant feature to them but couldnât give a hoot about touch effects, or drop sampler, the screen being color instead of monochrome etc etc
Everyone wants a play button but beyond that thereâs decisions and personal preferences.
