Prime Go charging light won't turn on

PRIME GO WON’T CHARGE :sob:

TLDR: Help I bought a used Denon Prime Go, and it won’t show the green charge light. But the screen shows a lightning bolt on the battery. I left it on the charger, and I’ve tried multiple chargers, including a laptop charger at 19V 4.74A (but I don’t have the official charger) and it won’t turn on unless the power cord is plugged in. Is the battery, charger, charging port, or unit bad?

I just got this thing off ebay today. First thing, the guy that shipped it to me wrapped it in two layers of bubble wrap then called it a day and threw it in a box twice the size of the unit with some loose with random charger, and said "it’s in USPS’ hands now. The cheap packing job for $800 ended up arriving with a crooked left volume fader (which I got him to give me $50 off for). I checked online and saw the original charger is 19V 3.42A, and the one I got was 1.5A.

I plugged it in for a while, and it looked like it was charging on the screen (when it was on), but the green battery indicator on the left never lights up. After leaving it plugged in while powered off for 2 hours, I tried taking it off the charger and it didn’t even power on. It works on the cable, but there is obviously something wrong with the charging. I tried finding a laptop charger that happened to be 19V 4.74A to see if maybe it just wasnt supplying enough juice with the junk spare they sent me, and it still has the same issue. I’m not sure if it HAS to really be specifically 3.42A for it to charge? Is the unit maybe broken?

I’m trying to leave the unit on while it’s plugged in to see if it will maybe charge while it’s on, because while the green indicator light still doesn’t do a thing (on or off), the screen shows the lightning bolt on the battery? But no percentage on it…

please help if there is any way to fix this? The ebay sellers page says no returns… Is it even worth it to try finding and fixing the issue? Would it make sense to try talking to Denon about fixing it? I’ve heard they are hard to get help from. Would they even help if I got it used off ebay?

should I just try to talk to ebay to see if they will allow a refund forcefully since it isn’t as described? I bought it from the listing because it was titled “Sparingly used Denon DJ PRIME GO with battery, adaptor”

I wanted to try and find a unit at a good price because I’m on a budget, so I thaught ebay would be ok since I’ve had luck with used gear before… but this is giving me a headache. Doesn’t feel worth the frustration and dissapointment :frowning:

This happened to me. I purchased a Prime Go from a DJ store that was used for testing and it didn’t come with the original charger. I also had no light and it wouldn’t charge. I think it was a LiteOn HDD power supply they’d given me.

Needless to say, that went back.

I think getting hold of the original power supply (or at least the same spec) will help here. If he can find the original in a drawer at home, it will be great. Definitely get in contact with him.

Same as with most li-ion battery packs, it’s most likely one of the cells got discharged (funny enough, it can happen when the unit is not used for a longer period of time) and it doesn’t want to charge the battery pack until the cells are balanced in voltage.

It can even be fixed at home if you know how to use a multimeter and can open the unit (and if the cells can be accessed) but my recommendation would be to just take to a battery specialist.

All in all I’d open a case with eBay - even if it’s listed as “No returns” eBay can wade in and seize funds from the seller and get the funds back to you.

The seller has sold you a rechargeable product which won’t recharge, as he’s provided you with the wrong adaptor. Mention too that the bad packaging has already caused dented/bent control issues and make sure eBay know that the part refund the seller gave you already was for that issue only not the lack of adaptor

It doesn’t work for me either, but it doesn’t bother me. Only the lightning indication does not work, it charges normally at the same time. But it became so for me after the repair, after it was first disassembled and then assembled. (repaired another).
