Just Gone From X1800 mixer to the 4+ , i have installed the windows Driver, but it does not show up in windows, Got my Device plugged in etc and nothing.
Presuming the 4+ Has USB audio.
Obviously using the single usb out on the back left,
as desperately trying to get audio into OBS, I have tried all i know of, clean driver installation etc, No Asio audio ??
The driver shows up in my windows app installation list, but no communication, it wont even show up as windows main audio volume control . i have a new and tested top quality USB cable
So basically its not like the X1800, I sent Asio audio direct to OBS, i am not wanting to use any controller, only hardware as I did with my x1800 and sc5000’s. bit of a step back that. so in essence i still need a second soundcard just for my windows, is that Correct ?
If you’re planning to use it standalone then you’ll need to run analogue cables from one of the outputs into your computer.
IMO that’s not a bad thing anyway, as the audio level over USB (when used as a controller) is really low. When I was using mine to stream, I ran the output into a separate interface just to get a decent level.
Okay, Yeh! but bad for me though, as I got this hoping to eliminate the extra cables and thinking their would be an Asio driver. The reason i got with Denon in first place, as i am not a Laptop type of dj , just too much more to worry about in all ways for my own liking. Oh well maybe an Asio driver will happen in future updates.
Great Unit though glad to have got it for all the additions only on this unit etc. just getting used to muscle memory with the short throw faders and differently calibrated meters in conjunction with each other and cue mix etc etc. Lol.
There is an ASIO driver - but you have to switch the unit to controller mode.
You’d need a computer to run OBS…
Whereas the Denon mixers are more like an audio interface/mixer combined, the standalone systems are effectively a controller with an internal computer.
The “standalone or controller” part is like an internal switch that either connects the decks/mixer to USB or to the internal computer. One or the other, not both - because when it’s standalone it has no need for an external computer.
I get that, but when you have cables cables cables and a PC for OBS on other side of room etc, my option just saved on the extra cables spread around the room etc, plus i already have this pc audio card used to go into a hifi etc, Many reason and options and everyone is individual, and Asio Should me simple enough to add in at later date. Each to their own PK.
Oh and i should have said I also Have midi music production equipment need my souncard for, so i can incorporate Analog hardware and i don’t want to spend on a larger multiple in soundcard, only needed the One with the left and right stereo, but now out of the question and a multitude of options with Asio driver. and I certainly don’t even want to keep unplugging to switch cables as soon get broken much quicker etc. many reasons.
You can’t blame Denon for your PC being on the other side of the room!
A cable is a cable. Running an audio cable from the Prime output is really no different to running a USB cable from the B socket. There’s still a cable involved.
Denon are also not to blame for your limited audio interface.
I use a intermediate mixer between prime 4 plus main output and speakers. In this mixer I take USB audio to connect to OBS. This way I use prime 4 always on standalone mode.
This is what I mean. Main output of Prime 4 to channel 1 in mixer. USB output to PC (OBS). With this I have a extra step of equalization and volume control before OBS or speakers.
Thanks for the input, unfortunately its about extra space and Skint now, no money for anything, as price will be a problem, what mixer are u using, i am not familiar with your mixer in the picture ?
