Prime 4 sound quality issue

Hi has anyone had any sound quality issues since updating to 4.2 update on prime 4. Just doesnt seem to sound as good, after the update. Updated via wifi and thinking of rolling back to previous update and which is the best way to do so. With thanks

Welcome to the community dude!

Can you somehow quantify / qualify this?

No. bulshit. I have absolutely no problems with the sound on the Prime 4, nor the Prime4+. In my opinion, you are writing nonsense and unfounded assumptions. Go see an ear doctor for an examination.

What is real, is that Pioneer devices now sound as good and even better than our Denon devices, which wasn’t the case.

It is Time for new modern devices. Pioneer devices are also faster and more reactive now.

We have the best software with v4.2 Let’s have best devices too

Sc7000, Prime 6, prime go v2…

Please back this up with science.

Welcome bud.

It’s best to roll back and see if it makes a difference. There could be a hardware issue that started when you updated so the best way is to play a track where you think it sounds bad then roll back and play the very same file with the exact mixer settings and see if it makes any difference.

Also check if your filter knob is centred as well as any EQ and also check your outgoing cables are firmly attached and not loose.

Try and make a recording and see how it sounds.

You’re absolutely right. I notice the clear drop in quality. I have just rolled the software back to 4.1 and boom the old sound is back to its spectacular self. I would urge everyone to do the same until they fix this with an update!

You’re wrong. If you have a good ear you would notice the drop in sound quality with 4.2. Roll it back to 4.1 and it’s back to perfection. However if you can’t tell the difference maybe just stay on 4.2 :man_shrugging:

Please record 2 fragments, one with the alleged degraded quality and one with the alleged better quality. It would be very interesting to study them and find out what the differences are. A “drop in quality” could be anything really. Is there something with the frequency response? Do you hear noise or hum? Is there distortion? Etc etc. Without concrete examples it’s anyone’s guess really.
