Hi everyone, my prime 4 has an issue since the last update I done, when my Shure mic is plugged in like it always is, it is picking up sound constantly, even when I have the mic on off, I’ve switch both ports, checked the cable, any ideas? Thanks in advance.
What do you mean by “picking up sound”? Is it coming through the speakers?
FYI the little light on the mic channel always flickers.
Yes it live all the time, picking up background sound straight from the mic, I’ve never had this before. Thanks for asking.
This photo shows the light going green and picking my voice as I talk, even though both mic ports are off.
…but it’s not coming through the speakers i.e. it is actually off, just the light flickers?
It’s live and sound comes through when the speakers are on. It picking up voice and sound. It should not pick this up when off and has never before. Thanks
From memory, the light always flashed for me but I didn’t get any microphone signal come though the system with it turned off.
t’s a way of previewing your gain levels before you go live but it shouldn’t give you actual microphone audio without the button toggled on.
Did you check the attenuation and threshold in the mic settings? The the fact that audio is picked up is affected by that… However, it doesn’t harm that the light is blinking. It does that as soon as your mic picks up signal. However, it should not come out of the speakers when the mic button is off.
Thanks for this, it seems to be when I’m live, for some reason it just does not switch off, checked my OBS settings, I’m going to try another cable to see if it still does this. Thanks Will
Going to try another cable, ordered one to fault check this, also checked my OBS settings, it’s so strange as I’ve never really had a problem with my Denon. Thanks Will
Oh wait, you’re not using the Prime 4 standalone?!
You’ve got it in controller mode connected to your computer via USB, using DJ software and sending the output of that to OBS? That’s a whole different kettle of fish.
I could be wrong with this but the mixer in the P4 was originally an analogue mixer and some parts of the mixer and FX were shifted to digital during an update but some parts of the signal stayed as analogue.
I believe the mic section and line in stayed as analogue but someone may need to confirm that. Maybe @Reese remembers?
I think you’re right. Some hardware audio paths couldn’t be converted to software, so things might be limited.
I only use my OBS on my Mac, it’s happening when not connected to the Mac also. Thanks
The light shows that there’s an audio presence on the channel, similar to the VU on one of the line faders. It’s just a visual confirmation telling you that you’re receiving signal from the source hooked up to that mic input.
It comes in handy for me when I give out two wireless mics and it helps me identify who’s talking and which channel I might have to tweak.
